There has been some confusion about the fate of Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show after reports suggested that she would be leaving it all behind. These reports have since been addressed with an official comment.
The Fate of ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’
“The Kelly Clarkson Show” is currently filming Season 7, and there are no plans for the “American Idol” winner to exit, a rep has revealed. “Rumor!” a representative told Entertainment Weekly in a statement, adding the program’s producer and distributor, NBC, “will advise directly if there is a show update.”
They continued, “We are not even halfway through season 7!”
What Sources Have Been Saying
Reports about the future of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” began when sources revealed that Clarkson would be leaving after this season, Page Six reported on January 19. Insiders shared that her exit was “definite,” and it is “likely that it will not go on.”
“[Her show] is a lot to put on, and looking at the landscape across daytime television, it’s not sustainable anymore,” they said, Page Six reports. However, another insider revealed that the reports may have been premature. “People are jumping the gun. Nothing is definite yet, and it’s a still a long season,” the source said, Page Six reports.
There had previously been reports that “Today” show anchor Hoda Kotb was rumored to replace Clarkson. Kobt shut down these rumors herself in a 2025 interview with Parade. “Oh, Kelly. I love Kelly so much,” Kotb said. “She’s been a great friend, but she’s got her job, and she’s so good at it. Nobody’s touching that Kelly Clarkson Show. Not one person.”
There were also reports from a staffer who told Daily Mail that Clarkson wished to leave her show, saying she “is going to continue to give it her all this season, but she would like to wind it down and end it while still on top,” Daily Mail reports. “Kelly has had an incredible life, and everything she touches seems to become a hit,” a source said. “She loves her talk show, but it is on the bottom of her list of things she would like to continue doing moving forward.”
