Lauren Alaina Shares How Motherhood & Faith Are Healing After Devastating Loss
During an appearance on the April 15 episode of the “If You Can Hear Me” podcast, Alaina opened up about faith and motherhood.
“The last couple of years of my life have been very life-changing, not just because I became a mother. I also lost my father, which I’ve talked a lot about,” she explained.
The country singer noted, “A lot of my prayers are praying for healing from that and also still trying to be healed enough to be a good mom and to be there for her and to do the right things.”
Alaina shared the sad news of her father’s death in July 2024. In January 2025, she announced her pregnancy.
“My dad died and I found out I was pregnant two months later, and she was a big surprise,” the “Idol” alum shared. “So my biggest prayer right now is just to heal from that and to be present with her and to be a good wife and a good mom and a good businesswoman.”
She continued, “Honestly, my career is the thing I probably pray for the least right now. It’s really my heart and my healing and being a mom that is most important to me right now.”
Alaina discussed the way she navigates her career while raising a child.
“She makes it easy. She’s a great baby,” the singer shared. “The answer is yes, it is difficult,” Alaina added, explaining that finding the balance of mom life and work life is challenging.
“I spend a lot of time praying about it, trying to figure out what to do and what not to do, and when is it worth it, and when is it not worth it?” she explained. “Because I’m not going to miss everything. I’m not gonna be gone all the time. I’m just not going to do that anymore. But I am lucky.”
She also spoke about the connection with her daughter, sharing, “We’re so bonded together. It’s crazy, the connection between a baby and a mother.”
Alaina Paid Tribute to Her Dad in Emotional Video
In February 2025, Alaina posted a video on Instagram, noting in the caption, “Why I decided to play this guitar on stage again. I know Daddy is playing right along with me with the best seat in the house.”
“I started playing guitar because my dad always wanted me to play guitar,” she said in the video. “My daddy grew up playing the banjo and he played guitar. And he always tried to get me to sit down long enough to play with him, and I would play with him sometimes, but I never really stuck to it.”
Alaina continued, “And when my brother and I went to clean out his house, we each took one of his guitars. And I said, ‘I’m gonna start practicing and playing.'”
After a tearful pause, she added, “So, here I am.”
