Luke Bryan has a reputation for being a lot of fun on the road. But he doesn’t necessarily have a reputation for being creative in how he thanks his opening acts!
At least that’s what one of his opening acts says of the American Idol judge.
Ashley Cooke toured with Luke Bryan in 2023. And in a recent stop at Taste of Country Nights, she had a little fun when the question of which big name artists give the best “end of tour” gifts.
It’s a tradition for headliners to thank their opening acts with a gift at the end of the tour.
For example, Jason Aldean got Corey Kent a Rolex watch and Jelly Roll got everyone opening for him a Nintendo Switch according to Taste of Country.
But according to Ashley Cooke, Luke Bryan’s gift ideas aren’t quite as innovative.
Ashley Cooke Calls Out Her Buddy Luke Bryan for Tour Gift
Ashley Cooke has opened for a lot of big name country artists including not just Luke Bryan but also Kane Brown, Parker McCollum, Jordan Davis, Cole Swindell, and Brett Young.
But Luke takes the prize for most bizarre end of tour gift.
Ashley told Taste of Country Nights, “I think the funniest one that I’ve experienced so far would be Luke Bryan. If you know Luke Bryan, this is such a Luke Bryan story.”
The “Your Place” singer went on, “The last show on his tour, his tour manager said to come to his bus, so we all were hanging out and he walked up there and he was like, ‘Thanks for being on the road with me, Ash, love ya,’ and I was like, ‘Love ya, too.’ And he just hands me an envelope, and I’m like, ‘What is this?'”
Realizing Luke was waiting for her to open the envelope, she obliged.
“And it’s just a wad of cash,” she said laughing.
“He goes, ‘Don’t spend it all in one place,’ and I was like, ‘Okay, thanks Luke, love ya, see ya later.'”
The 28-year-old singer calls the “wad of cash” an “iconic” gift and one she’ll never forget.
She didn’t reveal how much money it was.
Luke Bryan Has a Busy Fall Ahead
Luke Bryan is in the final two weeks of his “A Country Song Came On Tour.”
Which we guess means he’ll need to hit an ATM soon to fill up envelopes for opening acts including Adrien Nunez, Cole Goodwin, Ashland Craft and Mae Estes.
But the singer still has a busy fall ahead before returning for another season as judge of “American Idol.”
Once Luke wraps up his current tour, the singer will circle back to his “Farm Tour.“
That tour brings concerts to America’s farmers, setting up stages right in the middle of the farmland in small towns throughout the country. This year, Bryan expanded that tour, bringing three shows to California farmers for the first time in May.
The “Strip It Down” singer is also returning to Mexico for his 11th annual “Crash My Playa Music Festival” in January.
