Season 10 “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, were counting down the days until the birth of their second child in 2025. In anticipation of the big milestone, McCreery took to Instagram to share adorable new family photos on August 25, 2025. “Last bus weekend as a family of 3!” the singer captioned the sweet collection of snapshots.
The photos feature the couple and their son, Merrick Avery (who they call Avery), and the family dog, Moose. Gabi is positively glowing, and the soon to be family of four look thrilled to be spending some quality time together. As McCreery previously announced on Instagram, their new edition was due in the fall of 2025.
Fans Showered the Family With Love in the Comments Section
GettyThe heartwarming post gained nearly 20,000 likes in just a few hours, and fans couldn’t wait to share their well-wishes with McCreery and his wife. “Enjoy your time!” one fan wrote. “Avery you are going to be an awesome big brother! Scotty and Gabi so happy for you!” Others showed their love with heart emojis and simple congratulatory messages.
McCreery included future big brother Avery in several posts in the months before the birth, including a late August Instagram Reel of the young boy hard at work on a golf course. “Little man rakes his first bunker,” the singer captioned the post. Fans loved seeing the adorable boy following in his father’s footsteps on the course.
McCreery is Taking a Break From Performing for the Birth
GettyBeing a singer is McCreery’s calling, but he’s clearly very dedicated to fatherhood, too. As he told The Express U.S. on August 21, 2025, he planned to temporarily step away from performing in time for his second child’s birth. “I’ll be getting home and taking some time off to help with the next little baby,” he said. The singer had a festival appearance in Switzerland planned for before the break.
Although the couple hasn’t shared any details about a possible name for their second child as of this publication, McCreery did suggest that they are expecting another boy. “He’s figured it out,” McCreery said of Avery realizing his mother is pregnant. “I think he knows mommy’s belly’s getting big because his little brother’s in there.” McCreery and wife Gabi have been married since 2018.
