The “RHOSLC” and “Below Deck Down Under” crossover was very much anticipated by Bravo fans this season.
Viewers got the chance to watch the mashup for the first time during “RHOSLC” season 6, episode 11, and there was no shortage of drama.
Many fans were interested in the different perspectives between the Housewives cast and the “Below Deck” crew, and a Bravo exec spilled what happened behind the cameras.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bravo exec Noah Samton revealed that the crossover wasn’t easy to film.
“There are very specific specifications of how many people can be on that boat, so we cannot have a full crew for both shows,” he said.
Samton shared, “That was a constant issue from the very beginning of when we first started discussing the idea to film. It was the biggest challenge.”
Production also had to navigate which scenes to prioritize. “At one point, I told the ‘Below Deck’ team, ‘If you have to have the surveillance cameras cover something happening in the galley or in one of the cabins, just let it play there. Don’t worry. Let the big cameras go with the housewives for now,'” Samton said.
Fans may recall the pivotal scene where Lisa Barlow of “RHOSLC” gets into an argument with Heather Gay and sobs on the dock.
It turns out that she prevented the crew from going home. “She’s completely distraught, and she goes on the floating dock, which is our exit to get off the boat. And we cannot leave. There’s this shuttle boat, and it’s circling the yacht like an airplane without a runway, trying to find a place to land for us to get off the boat,” the Samton said.
He added, “We ended up having to sit there for 45 minutes to an hour past the end of the shift, waiting for Lisa to calm down.”
“She had a call with her husband, John, and we all felt bad because she was so upset. But we were also like, ‘Okay, we’re exhausted. Can we please go home now?'” Samton shared.
Bravo Fans Can’t Wait For the ‘Below Deck Down Under’ Version
Now that fans have gotten to see the crossover from the “RHOSLC” perspective, they’re curious to know more of what the “Below Deck Down Under” crew thought of the charter.
Fans got a glimpse of the staff reacting to the Housewives’ messiness, but they’re anxiously waiting for a more in-depth take.
“No like I need the ‘Below Deck’ perspective on this #RHOSLC charter immediately,” podcaster Gibson Johns shared.
“The faces of the #BelowDeck crew while the Salt Lake Housewives SCREAM at one another!!!” a fan tweeted.
“I love that Ben [Robinson] mulled around and just walked out. I can’t wait to see it from their perspective!” a viewer replied.
Daily Kelliher & Jason Chambers Says ‘RHOSLC’ Cast Was ‘More’
While fans only saw a glimpse of the “Below Deck Down Under” crew’s reactions to the “RHOSLC” cast, they got Daisy Kelliher and Captain Jason Chambers’ notes during an episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” on November 10.
When asked if they were “more” than other charter guests, Chambers answered, “It was a collective ‘more.'”
“There was a lot going on with Angie’s illnesses, her hair, being seasick, dietary requirements … it was a lot,” Kelliher shared.
The two also added that they had to clean up a lot of fake blood from the Housewives’ zombie party. “There were so many liquids happening,” host Andy Cohen noted.
As for which cast member had the most enviable wardrobe, Kelliher gave Bronwyn Newport props, while also divulging that Mary Cosby had the pickiest preference sheet.
