Brittany Cartwright Shares Where She Stands on Moving Back to Kentucky

Former “Vanderpump Rules” star Brittany Cartwright has a deep love for her home state of Kentucky, so it wasn’t surprising when, during an appearance on the “Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey” podcast, host Harry Jowsey asked if the Bravo star would ever consider moving back home with her son, Cruz.

While Cartwright made it clear she’s not planning a permanent move just yet, she shared that Kentucky holds a special place in her heart, and that owning a home there is something she’d love to do in the future.

Brittany Cartwright Opens up About Returning to Kentucky

Brittany Cartwright told Harry Jowsey on his podcast that a move back to Kentucky is not in the foreseeable future, as her life in Los Angeles continues to present her with tremendous opportunities, including her ongoing role on “The Valley,” with season 3 likely to premiere later this year.

However, there is a more important reason why she isn’t moving back home. Cartwright shared that her son, Cruz, whom she shares with her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, is currently “settled in” and has the right support system in place for his autism.

“You know, he’s settled in with his stuff right now; I got to keep him kind of on the same routine,” she told Jowsey.

That doesn’t mean that Cartwright isn’t looking at houses in the future, sharing, “I definitely want to buy a house in Kentucky soon because I love to go back and visit. But this is, like, where my opportunities are … ‘The Valley’ is going great; my podcast [‘When Reality Hits with Brittany Cartwright’] is doing great; Cruz is in great therapies and different stuff. So, yeah, we’re not going to be moving any time soon.”

In an interview with People in April 2025, Cartwright revealed that Cruz was diagnosed with autism.

“He is my better half. He is my little partner in crime. He is everything to me, and even though he can’t talk, I know everything that he wants, everything that he needs. We’re just so synced, it’s incredible,” she shared.

Fans also saw their close bond play out on season 2 of “The Valley,” though the season was an especially difficult one for Cartwright, as she filed for divorce from Taylor. Cameras even captured the moment he was served divorce papers, making the split a major storyline.

Cartwright Is ‘Thriving’ as a Single Mom

During her interview with Jowsey, Cartwright shared that she isn’t in a relationship, noting that her separation from Taylor gave her space to reflect and realize that she “had to work on myself” before jumping into something serious. It also made her realize: “I don’t need a man for anything really.”

“I’ve got my own house, my own money. I’ve got, you know, everything. I can do everything on my own, but I do want a partner eventually, just to have fun with and enjoy life with. But it’s not something I’m like, ‘I have to have a boyfriend.’ I just want to have fun right now,” she shared.

During a conversation on the “California Live” podcast on Jan. 13, Cartwright shared that she was “thriving as a single mom.”

“My son is so amazing, and I feel like … I always wanted to be a mom. He’s so cute. He is my little everything; he’s my best friend, and, you know, honestly, I just love having him with me all the time. I just love it,” the reality star said.

  1. She can’t move even if she wants to without Jax giving permission. Say what you like about Jax but he is a good dad, lousy partner, but good dad.
