“Below Deck” star Colin MacRae has suffered a significant injury that’s disrupting his life at sea. MacRae spent three seasons on “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” but traded it in to sail his own rebuilt Catamaran around the world, but now his injury has thrown his dream life into turmoil.
‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Colin MacRae Reveals Serious Injury
The former reality TV star used social media to reveal he has a very long and slow road to recovery after snapping his Achilles heel in half over the weekend.
“Life took a serious turn for the worse this weekend when I thought I could play rugby at 40 😅. Snapped my Achilles clean in half, and had to have surgery to join it back together. Was a full rupture which felt like someone had shot me in the heel with a shotgun 😆. The video is post surgery, in the operating room with it connected again,” the Bravo star shared.
MacRae included several photos in his Instagram post, including some of his time spent in the hospital. The yachtie was also spotted in a wheelchair, leaving the hospital and showing off his cast.
“Going to be a long slow road to recovery, with the surgeon saying I’m going to have to learn to walk again in a few months. Huge thanks to @samitivej hospital for the 5 star treatment in Bangkok. Rough timing as my boat is hauled out at the moment and access is via a ladder. Anyway, just another bump in the road 🫠,” he expressed.
“Below Deck” star Ashling Lorger showed up in the comments to give MacRae some love, writing, “Ouchy Mumma ! Hopefully a speedy recovery ❤️🩹 xx, while his former “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” co-star Lucy Edmunds chimed in to say, “Hope you have a speedy recovery!”
Colin MacRae’s Life Away From ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’
The yachtie has been keeping fans updated on his life via social media and his official YouTube Channel, Sailing Parlay Revival. MacRae videoed his journey to rebuilding his Catamaran, and since then, it’s been all about his life at sea with his girlfriend, Brittany Amodeo, and their two dogs.
They also have a stellar crew featured as the group explores some of MacRae’s dream destinations, like Malaysia and Indonesia.
MacRae has used his new adventure as an opportunity to spend more time with his family. Last summer, his sister Monica joined him, Brittany, and the rest of the crew for a month of sailing and a little resort time for a much-needed sibling catch-up.
The “Below Deck Sailing Yacht” alum revealed back in August that he was embarking on yet another new adventure. He confirmed he was at the beginning stages of a beer business and promised to share more details.
MacRae has nothing but love for his “Below Deck” family, and he proved that last year when he took “Below Deck Down Under” star Captain Jason Chambers for his first sail. The reality TV star is also often seen spending time with his former co-star Marcos Spaziani, who is frequently featured on social media.
Life is a lot different for MacRae out of the reality TV spotlight, and he likes it that way.
