Scheana Shay’s ex-husband, Mike Shay, is back in the Bravo world — and he’s teaming up with “The Real Housewives of Orange County” star Tamra Judge for a special event. The former “Vanderpump Rules” cast member and Scheana’s first husband has kept a low profile since their 2017 divorce, but he’s making a big return to the spotlight as a DJ alongside some familiar faces.
Mike Shay Teams Up With Tamra Judge for RHOC Watch Party
Mike is joining Judge and Katie Ginella to co-host an RHOC season 19 reunion part 1 watch party on Thursday, November 6, at Even House Golf Club in Tustin, California. Ginella announced the collaboration on Instagram on October 28, revealing that Mike will provide the music for the event.
“Mike Shay will be DJ-ing, there’s going to be a lot of fun brands here, a little bit of gifting, and some surprises!” Ginella said in her Instagram video, which included a clip of Mike behind the DJ booth. “Can’t wait to see you!” she added in the caption, while Judge commented, “Can’t wait.”
Scheana Shay Shares Where She Stands With Her Ex Mike Shay
Scheana has made it clear there’s no bad blood between her and Mike. Earlier this year, she revealed on her “Scheananigans” podcast that the two reconnected before the release of her memoir, “My Good Side,” in July.
“We went and got lunch last week,” she said. “I wanted to tell him about it in person. I didn’t want him to find out about it online. I was very honest. I told him that I do speak about our relationship. And he was like, ‘You know what? It’s your book. I don’t care. It’s your story.’ And he was genuinely happy for me.”
In the memoir, Scheana reflected on how she “got caught up in the fairytale” of marrying Mike, her high school friend. “It all seemed so right,” she wrote. “Shay was my best friend. He was sweet and talented and had so much potential. I truly thought the show was a place where his music career could flourish.”
The couple split amicably in 2016 after two years of marriage. “Unfortunately, the timing wasn’t right, and we weren’t meant to be together in the long run,” Scheana wrote.
Scheana Shay Explains Why She Still Uses Her Ex’s Last Name
Fans have long questioned why Scheana still uses her ex’s last name. On her January 31 podcast, she explained that it’s all about brand consistency. “I have built a professional career as Scheana Shay,” she said. “It was like, do I go back to Scheana Marie? I tried, [but] it wasn’t really sticking. [Scheana Shay] was the name I was going by professionally.”
Scheana, now married to Brock Davies, said she considered reverting to her maiden name after her divorce but decided it wasn’t worth the disruption. “My businesses, my retirement, my will, my trust, my houses, my everything is tied up in this name,” she said. “If I could go back in time, maybe I would have never changed my name to Scheana Shay professionally. But I was young. I believed in forever and the prospect of divorce wasn’t even on my mind.”
