‘Shahs of Sunset’ Star Reza Farahan Teases What Sets ‘The Valley: Persian Style’ Apart

“The Valley: Persian Style” is arriving with familiar faces, but Reza Farahan says viewers should not expect it to resemble Bravo’s original “The Valley.” Farahan, along with Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi and Mercedeh “MJ” Javid, spoke candidly about how the upcoming series will stand apart from the “Vanderpump Rules”–adjacent spinoff.

Reza Farahan Explains How ‘The Valley: Persian Style’ Is Different

During an interview with Decider at BravoCon, Farahan reacted strongly when asked how “The Valley: Persian Style” compares to “The Valley,” which stars Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright.

“Oh, girl!” Farahan said before explaining the distinction. “Bring thousands of years of history and culture and passion and fire. You’re getting the very sweet Caucasian version, and the range is like this,” he added, holding his hands close together.

Farahan emphasized that his comments were not meant as a slight. “No disrespect to ‘The Valley’ regular style,” he said. “But ‘The Valley: Persian Style?’ Bam!” He then jumped back and spread his arms wide. “The range is like this, bro!”

‘Shahs of Sunset’ Legacy Carries Into New Bravo Spinoff

“Shahs of Sunset” aired for nine seasons on Bravo from 2012 through 2021, following a close-knit group of Persian-American friends navigating life, relationships, and careers in Los Angeles. Although the series was placed on pause in 2021, its cultural impact and fan base have remained strong.

Farahan, Gharachedaghi, and Javid are all returning for “The Valley: Persian Style.” According to Deadline, the cast also includes Farahan’s husband Adam Neely, Javid’s estranged husband Tommy Feight, Tanin Nikpey, Greg Haroutunian, Sky Asakari, Bamshad Akbar, Natasha Boroumand, Amir Boroumand, and Reza Jackson.

The spinoff arrives nearly two years after “The Valley” premiered on Bravo. An exclusive sneak peek was shown ahead of “The Valley” panel at BravoCon on Nov. 14, teasing that while the Shahs alums may be in a different stage of life, the intensity and drama remain intact.

Reza Farahan Shares Reaction From ‘Shahs of Sunset’ Cast

Farahan also opened up about how former “Shahs of Sunset” cast members have reacted to the new series. Speaking to Us Weekly at the launch party for Mauricio Umansky’s partnership with fashion brand ARI, Farahan shared that the response has been mostly supportive.

“Lilly Ghalichi, who you may remember from seasons 2 and 3, has been unbelievably supportive and amazing,” Farahan said. He also noted positive exchanges with Destiney Rose and Sara Jeihooni.

“I heard from Mike Shouhed, who told me, ‘The show wouldn’t be that great. It wouldn’t have the sparkle and the magic of Shahs,’” Farahan said, laughing. “And I’m like, ‘Why? Because you’re not on it.’ It’s so Mike. Can’t hate it.”

“The Valley: Persian Style” premieres Jan. 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.
