Selma Blair stepped out on Friday, October 16 at 90s Con in her first public appearance since the widely publicized airplane incident which landed the beloved actress in the hospital.
The star was hit with two second-degree assault charges as a result of Sunday’s in-air altercation, in which she’s been accused of getting aggressive with a flight attendant and causing the crew on the Delta flight to declare a “Level 1” disruption. In aviation terms, a “Level 1” disruption is can involve intoxication, verbal aggression, or refusing crew instructions.
But on Friday night, she looked friendly and enthusiastic, as she wrapped a fan named Brad Deiter in a hug. For the event, Selma, who has announced her MS (multiple sclerosis) diagnosis in 2018, chose a warm-looking outfit that consisted of a black base layer that cocooned her neck, and an off-white cardigan.
She was seated on a chair as she posed for pictures, and has previously been seen walking with a cane at many appearances, including on the red carpet for the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Another fan who shared their photo with Selma from Friday night’s con captioned summed up their excitement with the simple caption, “Selma Blair!!!”
A Fan Previously Reflected on Their Great Experience Meeting Selma Back in May 2026
In May 2026, a fan shared a snap that shows Selma wrapping her arms around him and leaning in towards his shoulder while posing at a convention. In the caption, the fan had lots of praise for the way he was treated by the star. He said of the moment, “I met Selma Blair at Motor City Comic Con yesterday. She was so sweet and personable. She was everything you would want her to be.”
Selma Blair Said She Had No Intentions to Harm Anyone in Post-Incident Statement

Selma, seen above in 2002 promoting “The Sweetest Thing,” released a statement through her rep addressing the airplane incident in a statement which was exclusively shared with People.
It began, “Since Sunday night, the public account of what happened to Selma aboard a flight to New York has been built almost entirely on a police statement and a decade-old headline.”
It then thanked the “handful of journalists” who have “taken the time to report on Selma as a human being rather than headline.”
The statement then called out a widespread lack of “fair reporting,” and assured fans, “Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight. There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone.”
It also addressed some spectators who have questioned the validity Selma’s MS diagnosis after seeing her walk without a cane. “What Selma has been able to do physically in the years since is nothing short of a miracle. She still has bad days, and she lives with pain daily. Selma also has pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition secondary to her MS, which bears directly on how a medical episode presents to people who do not know her.”
The statement says the neurological condition is the reason Selma travels with a service dog, who was at her side during the flight.
As for Selma’s career, it doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. Her rep shared that she’s done work on seven different film and television projects this year, and is also involved in various business ventures, including disability-friendly products.
Selma is the mom of one child, a 15-year-old son, whom she shares with designer Jason Bleick.
