Dolly Parton passed away on August 25, following a private battle with cancer. She was 80. GettyParton had an incredible career and appealed to people of all ages, not just because of her talent, but also her kindess and great sense of humor. She appeared on “American Idol” in Season 7 as a guest mentor, and a guest mentor on “The Voice” in Season 9 and Season 11.
Parton won a staggering amount of awards throughout her career, including 11 Grammy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. She also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California, in 1984. The star has now been almost completely covered with flowers and handwritten notes from fans.

The creation featured Parton’s likeness and the inscription, “An American Treasure.” The maze cutting is a longtime tradition that has featured several popular artists. Interestingly, it was created just days before the singer’s passing and will be on display until November, WBEZ Chicago reports.
“We hope it’s a good opportunity for people who love Dolly to come out and remember her and the joy that she brought to life,” said All Seasons marketing director Kamille Combs told the news outlet.

On the day that Parton’s death was announced, the The Empire State Building in New York was lit up in pink in her honor. The news was announced on their official Instagram. “Tonight, the Empire State Building tower lights will turn to a pink sparkle at 9:25 to honor the late Dolly Parton,” they wrote.

Dolly Parton Will Be Missed
Parton’s nephew Bryan Seaver, released a video statement informing fans of her death. A highlight of his beautiful speech was when he reflected on what she meant to not only their family, but the world. “She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD and on your phone playlist, becoming an extended part of your family whether you liked it or not. Our family and the team she has entrusted with her legacy will work diligently to ensure her spirit will live with us forever,” Seaver said.
He continued, “Dolly was a farmer, just like her daddy; he farmed the soil, she farmed songs and happiness. Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.”
Parton will be dearly missed.
