Alix Earle and her pro dancer partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, impressed the “Dancing With the Stars” judges, along with fans, for their energetic rendition of “Circus,” by Britney Spears. The duo scored 13 points for their cha-cha, which included a flaming hoop and whip as props.
However, while Earle didn’t stop smiling at all during their performance, the TikTok star may have been masking her pain more than viewers realize. She recently explained to her followers the toll that so much strenuous dancing is having on her body.
Alix Earle Shares the Real Struggles Behind DWTS
Alix Earle decided to do an UN-GRWM (Un-Get Ready With Me) TikTok video, showing her unwinding process after a recent “Dancing With the Stars” practice.
“I have bruises on my collarbones, my toenail came off during practice today, this is like, one big, swollen bruise. It’s so swollen,” she said, pointing out all of her various injuries. “I don’t think I can walk.”
Earle admitted that, while the first week was difficult, she’s not finding that it’s getting easier with Week 2. She also realized that she may be agreeing to more than she’s capable.
I’m signing myself up for stuff I have yet to do,” she explained. “There’s some tricks and things that I just can’t do, but I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ll do it, I’m gonna work and get it by next Tuesday.’ I’m starting to doubt myself a little bit, but I’m gonna keep trying.”
“I feel like someone put me in a drying machine and just bruised and beat up every part of my body,” she confessed.
Earle’s Late Nights Are Out, Dance and Self-Care Are In
After airing her grievances, Earle tried to turn her perspective around. Her dog, Asia, recently had surgery, which reminded the “Hot Mess” podcaster that maybe she didn’t have things too bad. She also realized how devoted to her new DWTS routine she’d become.
“Thinking about today, I don’t know the last time in the past three years that I have dedicated this much time to something besides work. I’m always like, ‘I’m busy, I have work, I can’t do it,'” she said. “But this has just become my everything.”
I have completely changed my entire life schedule. I go to bed early every night. I really have nothing else going on besides dancing every day. I go to meetings before and after, but just like recovery, taking care of myself. I’ve changed what I’m eating.”
Her fans jumped into her comments to give tips, such as magnesium and Epsom salt baths. Fortunately, she has her sister, Ashtin, who is also willing to help her by massaging her hip flexors.
