When it comes to award ceremonies, celebrities will often do whatever it takes to look as fabulous as possible. Some will participate in videos, showing the process of getting ready for awards ceremonies.
On September 7, upcoming “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Alix Earle attended the MTV Video Music Awards. Earle, whose “Get Ready With Me” TikTok videos helped her rise to fame, posted a video demonstrating the lengths she went to keep her dress looking pristine.
Stiff as a Board but Ready to Slay: Earle Details Journey to the VMAs
Earle posted two TikTok videos on the night of the VMAs, with the first serving as a flashback to her social media beginnings. “Let’s get ready to go to the VMAs,” she tells her viewers. While her glam team does her hair and makeup, she chats to her fans about the night, debating whether she should change before doing her presenter duties.
At the end of the video, we see Earle wearing a white Tom Ford mini dress that is completely open along the sides. After a member of her team irons it while she’s in it, she wonders aloud if she should go commando. But it’s the following TikTok that reveals why the ironing was necessary.
It begins with Earle, stiffly lying in the middle of the car in her tiny dress.
“Outfit of the night for the VMAs,” she tells the camera. “We have this Tom Ford dress, which I can’t wrinkle, so we have an hour-long car ride while I’m just lying back here like this. But I do have roadside drink service.”
After informing her viewers that she gets a sip at every red light, we see a hand from the front seat hold out an Alix Earle Poppi with vodka for her. After a quick drink from the straw, she resumes her “stiff as a board” pose.
Considering she looked fabulously wrinkle-free on the VMAs’ red carpet, her dedication to the dress was worth it.

While many had hoped that Earle would show up on the red carpet with NFL boyfriend Braxton Berrios, the “Hot Mess” podcaster attended the event with her sister, Ashtin, instead. Earle has previously talked about how Berrios, a Houston Texans’ wide receiver, has been so busy with football, but is still supportive from afar. On the VMAs red carpet, she explained how Braxton recently calmed her DWTS fears.
“I had a breakdown to Braxton the other night,” she told E! News. “I was like, ‘Braxton, I don’t think I can be, like, sexy. I don’t know what to do.’ I’m like, ‘I need you to help me.’ And he’s so, so supportive, and I FaceTime him every day, every chance I get.”
