Bindi Irwin Surprises Robert Irwin With Message After ‘DWTS’ Season 34 Cast Revealed
Robert was previously announced as a “Dancing With the Stars” season 34 cast member, but on the September 3 episode of “Good Morning America,” the full cast of stars and dance pros were revealed.
Robert is the second of the Irwin family to compete on the dance show, with his sister Bindi taking home the Mirrorball trophy in season 21.
During an interview with the new cast, “GMA” aired a special message from Bindi for her brother.
“Hey Robert! I am so excited that you are embarking on your ‘Dancing With the Stars’ journey. Oh my goodness,” she said in the video.
“After being on the show 10 years ago, my best advice is to just lean into the experience. This is going to change your entire life,” Bindi continued.
She added, “And you are going to remember this forever. I am so proud of you. Let your personality shine. You’ve got this! And I can’t wait to cheer you on every week.”
When asked for his reaction to Bindi’s encouraging words, Robert noted, “She’s the best. She’s just one of my biggest inspirations and that’s why I’m doing the show.”
He added, “It’s a childhood dream, you know?”
“And I can’t believe we get to do this together,” he said, hugging his pro partner, Witney Carson.
Derek Hough Shares Prediction That Robert Irwin Is ‘Going to Go Far’ on ‘DWTS’
Bindi’s advice to let his personality shine is spot-on. Earlier this year, Derek Hough shared his thoughts about Robert’s chances on “DWTS.”
At the April 2025 Disney Entertainment Television’s Get Real Event, Hough told People that Robert is “going to go far” in the competition because he’s so authentic.
“I think that he, them as a family, they are truly just who they are. What you see is what you get,” the “DWTS” judge explained. “They are really that kind, they are really that positive, they really do have that energy.”
He added, “When you are truly authentic in that way, it really pierces through. So I think in that regard, he’s going to go far just based off of the person he is.”
