8:05 p.m. – For tonight, the finalists will each be performing two dances: a ballroom style they chose themselves and a freestyle routine. The finalists will be paired with a former “DWTS” finalist. AJ is paired with Charli D’Amelio.
The Infamous Performance
This performance and pairing are what everyone in the “Dancing With the Stars” world seems to be talking about this past week. Was it worthy of being talked about for a week? Not really, but here we are.
AJ is so focused on this that he is missing out on the fact that he is competing to be on a show he has always wanted. Yes, it’s an intense process, but he also needs to step back and take the moment in and enjoy it. The routine was fun, and they looked good, though.
From the judges, Shirley said he put everything but the kitchen sink. He captured the essence of cha cha and included Rylee. Kym said she loved that he gave Rylee her own moments. Mark said it lacked some soul and funk and grit. He wants to see more of the funkier side.
Teaching Ballroom on ‘DWTS: The Next Pro’
We all know that AJ can dance ballroom. However, being a pro dancer on “Dancing With the Stars” means teaching a novice how to dance ballroom.
That’s where Week 6 came into play, as the dancers were paired with a “DWTS” superfan and had to teach them how to dance. He was definitely leading on this one, but she made it work. They had a good frame, and it was a good routine.
From the judges, Witney said that was so good, it was so beautiful. It was technically sound. She wanted an emotional moment. Mark said it’s crystal clear he knows his craft. It traveled and flew. Shirley said what he did in two days was miraculous. The assignment was coaching, and he killed it.
Partnering With Adele
It seems when Adele and AJ got to dance together, they shined. They are both experts in ballroom, so they feed off each other. Week 4 was all about chemistry, and this duo had the chemistry going for this routine.
For the judges’ feedback, Shirley said their chemistry skills are off the charts. She told AJ not to be so formed and to dig a little deeper. Jenna said thank you for being so receptive to my suggestions in the room. Mark said the beginning was bumpy. When they danced the rumba, it was great for both of them.
