As “Dancing With the Stars” pro Rylee Arnold prepares to celebrate her 21st birthday this week, she’s giving fans a look at the realities of living with Type 1 diabetes.
Though Rylee handles her condition with strength and grace, she also wants her audience to understand that she has rough moments too.
Rylee Arnold Shares a Vulnerable Moment With Her Fans
Professional dancer Rylee Arnold is strong, hilarious, and comes up with magnificent choreography. Fans love her for a wide variety of reasons, but they especially appreciate how she uses her platform for education.
On social media, the 20-year-old shared a vulnerable moment about living with her condition.
“Had to poke some fun for one of the worst mornings I’ve had with type 1 diabetes 😭😂 here to say if you are in my same position right now just know you aren’t alone ❤️” the young dancer captioned the Instagram reel.
“Do you ever just get so exhausted of type 1 diabetes that you just have to cry it out…. Cause I do all the time!!!” Rylee wrote over the video. In the clip, she wipes away tears as she forces a smile and tries to concentrate on the road.
Fans applauded the post and praised her for speaking out.
“You are so strong baby girl 💗” Rylee’s mother Mindy shared in the comments.
“Ugh girl yes. The medical burnout is SO REAL. I have done this many times,” a fan added.
“Thank you for being so real about this,” another Instagram user wrote. “People see the smile, but they don’t always see the constant work, worry, and exhaustion that comes with Type 1 diabetes. The Dancer Recently Marked Five Years of Living With Type 1 Diabetes
Recently, Rylee Arnold reflected on the anniversary of receiving her diagnosis.
“5 years ago today I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes!!!” she shared with her Instagram audience. There has been so many hard days, frustration, exhaustion, and moments where it felt unbelievably hard. But looking back this diagnosis shaped me into someone stronger, more compassionate, more disciplined, and more grateful than I ever could’ve imagined!!”
Rylee went on to discuss how grateful she feels for developing a strong sense of resilience. She’s also made incredible friends and given her “a purpose so much bigger” than herself. More than anything, the dancer feels proud of the younger version of herself for tackling such a difficult hurdle. She kept dancing and pursuing her dreams.
“Forever grateful for type 1 diabetes and everyone who has supported me along the way!! ❤️🔥” Rylee concluded the post.
“So proud of you Ry ❤️” her boyfriend, Walker Lyons, encouraged her in the comments.
