Revealed: The ‘Golden Bachelor’ Star Mel Owens Wants On DWTS

Mel Owens has revealed which star of “The Golden Bachelor” he believes should be the first person from the senior version of the franchise to appear as a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.”

The former professional football player, 66 — who played as a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams from 1981 until 1989 — starred in season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor,” which came to an end two nights ago on Wednesday, November 12, when the ninth and final episode of the series aired.

Owens chose to hand his final rose to Peg Munson, 62, a retired firefighter and bomb tech from Las Vegas, Nevada. It should, therefore, come as no surprise regarding who the former football star chose as the ideal candidate for “Dancing with the Stars.”

Mel Owens Thinks Peg Munson Should Go On ‘Dancing With the Stars’

In an exclusive interview with Parade, Mel Owens told the publication that he believes Peg Munson would be his pick of “The Golden Bachelor” cast members to go on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Owens says the woman he chose to pursue a relationship with in the finale of season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor” is the ideal candidate for the reality dance competition.

He was asked if he would ever consider appearing on the show, but replied, “I already nominated Peg. I want to see her first because I’m telling you, the girl can dance — spontaneously! She’s got rhythm, doing her thing. It’s so much fun to watch her dance.”

Owens continued, explaining to Parade that, since he gave Munson a commitment diamond ring on the final episode of the show, he’s been enjoying watching her dance in private. He said, “I may have a good playlist. So, I go, ‘I know she’s going to like this playlist.’ Every song [that] comes on, she’s moving and grooving with it. It’s so much fun to watch her.”

He concluded, “She can dance, so I’m nominating her.”

Munson Has a History of Dance Credentials

Munson gave “The Golden Bachelor” viewers a small taste of her dance credentials when she boogied with Owens on a date at a KC and the Sunshine Band concert whilst on the show. However, viewers might not be aware that she was previously a member of a Las Vegas senior citizen dance ensemble called “The High Rollers” — the official older dance group for the Las Vegas Aces WNBA team.

She told Parade, “A couple of years ago they decided to have a 50 and older dance team and there were about 200 women who auditioned and I tried out and there were 23 of us, 24 of us and I made it.”

Munson continued, “It was great, it was a wonderful experience and I did a little show in Vegas back in 1991, ’92 at the Aladdin — I’m dating myself. It was called ‘Country Tonite.’ I danced on the strip for just a little bit. It was fun. I was in a show.”

It certainly sounds like Owens is right about Munson being a great candidate for “Dancing with the Stars.”

Owens and Munson Are Enjoying Life as a Couple

Since filming for “The Golden Bachelor” finished, Mel Owens and Peg Munson have remained as a couple. In fact, if their social media posts are anything to go by, their relationship is as strong as a rock.

The pair regularly post photographs and videos looking incredibly loved up, which is wonderful to see — and the comments on their posts show that their fans are extremely happy for them.

Under one video, a fan wrote, “You 2 are ADORABLE!!! Soooo happy for you🫶🏻.”

On another video, a different fan commented, “Best couple ever!! So happy for you both!! You are SO beautiful inside and out!! Such a perfect couple!!❤️🙌🏼🥳”

We sincerely hope Mel Owens and Peg Munson have the happiest of lives together — and, quite frankly, we’d like to see both of them on “Dancing with the Stars” in the near future!

  1. Worst season of the Batchelor franchise.Biring to watch. An insincere Batchelor. Cindy dodged a bullet. Melhad no personality , no romance, .If he knew he wouldn’t want to get married to anyone for years why would he go on the Batchelor. He knew a proposal was anticipated.
Cindy had every right to ask him if he could commit. Cindy was the best lady on the shoe and am so glad she left him. The casting director for the Batchelor really picked a dud. Both golden. Batchelors were terrible choices. Fire your casting director.
