“Dancing With the Stars” fan favorite Sasha Farber is not a pro on the cast of Season 34, which premiered September 16, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be involved at all. The 41-year-old Sydney, Australia native, whose best finishes have been third place in season 26 and season 28, is remaining a part of the program in a new way.
Us Weekly says Farber confirmed in a TikTok video earlier this month that he would not be competing. He told fans, “It is a beautiful day today. Guys, the Dancing With the Stars cast announcement was today. Wow, so many good names.” The dancer continued, “Who are you going to vote for? I mean, I know who I’m going to vote for. I know who you’re not going to vote for — that’s me. But that’s OK.”
The magazine says Farber’s longtime castmate, Val Chmerkovskiy, told them in an interview at the VMAs that his friend’s decision to sit out “wasn’t personal,” but simply due to “the nature of the business.”
So if Farber isn’t a pro this season, what will he be doing? Read on to find out.
Sasha Farber Is Giving Fans Live Backstage Access
Instead of competing as a dance pro, Farber is serving as a backstage host, streaming live content to give fans extra access to what’s going on during the show. He kicked off the gig by going live on TikTok for last night’s premiere.
Farber told fans, “Can’t wait to show you guys around the ballroom and take you backstage!”
Fans were thrilled that Farber was present.
One commented, “This makes my heart very happy as a Sash fan!”
Another declared, “Yes Sasha!! This is going to be so good!”
Farber’s longtime costar Peta Murgatroyd weighed in as well, writing, “All hail the new social guy! @sashafarber1 congrats babe,” before adding a heart.
Sasha Farber Posed With New ‘Bachelorette’ at ‘DWTS’ Premiere
The new “Bachelorette,” TikTok influencer and “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Taylor Frankie Paul, was present at the “DWTS” season 34 premiere, and she cozied up to Farber for a cute Instagram pic.
The one-time dance partner of gold medalist Simone Biles posted the shot on his Instagram with the cheeky caption, “Yes, I accept this rose.”
In the comments of his post, fans began to imagine what it would be like to see Farber as a part of the “Bachelor” universe. One wrote, “You on the bachelor would be crazy but I say go for it.”
Another chimed in, “You need your own season of “The Bachelor!””
As far as Farber’s love life goes, he appears to have stayed single since splitting with his most recent “DWTS” partner, Jenn Tran around June 2025, per People.
