“Dancing with the Stars” Season 34 is a tough competition, and the level of talent has been impressing fans and judges. Unfortunately, it was time for Jen Affleck and her professional partner, Jan Ravnik, to leave after Halloween Night on Tuesday, October 28.
The pair scored 32 out of 40 from the judges after their Contemporary performance to “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift. They found themselves at the bottom and were ultimately voted off the ABC dance competition. But the timing of their elimination stings even more because Ravnik has faced harsh criticism about his skills as a pro. This is mainly because he lacks ballroom experience, but he certainly has incredible talent.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy Shares Thoughts on Jan Ravnik as a Pro
Seasoned former professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy commented on Ravnik’s skills, stating that he should not be a pro. He made their comments on wife Peta Murgatroyd’s “Penthouse with Peta” podcast on October 24.
“Dancing With the Stars is a worldwide phenomenon. … I’m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars,” Chmerkovskiy said of Ravnik’s casting. “There’s zero foundation technique, quality, understanding of the partnership. Bro, I’m getting emotional. It is absurd, and this is unreal how blind we have to be, and God forbid say what’s obviously there.”
Many fans felt this was harsh and have been eager to hear Ravnik’s reaction.
Jan Ravnik Comments on Harsh Criticism
After Ravnik’s elimination, he was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight, where he chose not to answer directly.
“I have no comment on that,” Ravnik said. “Look, I got all the love on this show. All the pros, from the judges, also. Like everyone gave me so much love, and whoever saying outside, the people [who are] trying to stay relevant and spreading the hate, this is not a way to do it. And I never will spread or take the hate.” He also gestured that the comments were going in one ear and out the other as he focused on the positives of his experience and his first season as a pro.
Saying Goodbye to Jen Affleck
After her elimination from “Dancing with the Stars,” Affleck commented on how grateful she was to have been included in the show. “I just feel grateful, I really gave it my all. I put in all the work,” she said, ABC 7 reports. “Not only did I show up and try my hardest, but I also tried my hardest at home, being a mom. I tried my best juggling both. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
