“Dancing With the Stars” alums Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are the parents of three sons, Shai, 9, Rio, 2, and Milan, 21 months. With three young kids in the home, Peta and Maks are always busy as their sons keep them on their toes.
However, the family still goes above and beyond to make each of the boys feel special and loved.

Maks Chmerkovskiy & Peta Murgatroyd Gift Shai an Epic Birthday Trip
GettyOn January 4, Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy celebrated their son’s 9th birthday. Shortly after, the family treated their oldest son to a fun outing to Universal Studios.
However, the busy family forgot to show off the exciting photos until months later.
“We completely forgot to post this from Shai’s birthday adventure!! 🎉” Peta shared on Instagram. “Thank you Universal Studios for such an unforgettable day 🎢✨💙”
She attached several photos and videos of Shai and his friends excitedly exploring the amusement park. The group rode rides and even visited the Harry Potter section of the park.
Maks and Peta’s younger sons weren’t visible, leading fans to believe they were with a sitter for the occasion.
“Oh my goodness he looks so in his element like he’s telling you guys all about it 💕💕” one Instagram user wrote, with many other fans happily agreeing.
Shai Chmerkovskiy Bounces Back After A Skiing Accident
Earlier in the year, Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd took their family on a skiing trip. Although the family takes a trip to the slopes each year, Shai suffered an emergency.
On the family’s YouTube vlog, they detailed the accident. Apparently, Shai tried tackling a slope that was too challenging for him. He was going too fast and crashed before their ski instructor could catch up with him and stop him.
“You couldn’t see his chin,” Peta told the camera. “It was completely covered in blood.”
Thankfully, after a trip to the emergency room and some stitches, the little boy healed quickly. Fans are excited to hear more about the family’s adventures, as long as everyone stays safe and healthy.
“Dancing With the Stars” returns to ABC this fall.
