Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas were an unstoppable duo during their impressive run on “Dancing with the Stars,” are are set to reunite in the most epic way.
According to PEOPLE, the two will be performing on Broadway together this spring in the hit musical Chicago, where Leavitt will continue in her role as Roxie Hart, while Ballas will play Billy Flynn.
The two will share the stage for a special four-week run beginning Monday, April 6, and running through Sunday, May 3.
“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star began her run as Roxie Hart on Feb. 2 and was initially set to leave on March 15, but was extended through April 5 due to “an overwhelming demand.” But now, her run will continue for a bit longer. As for Ballas, this will be a return to the big stages in New York, having played Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys as well as having a role in “Kinky Boots” in 2018.
Mark Ballas Is ‘Excited’ For His Return To Broadway
In a statement to PEOPLE, Ballas reflected on this incredible opportunity.
“After spending the last few months in the world of The Traitors, where everything is about lies, murder, and deception, stepping into Chicago feels like a pretty natural next move,” the three-time Mirrorball champion said. “I’m so excited to be returning to Broadway, this time as Billy Flynn, and even more excited that I get to share the stage with Whitney, who’s already killing it as Roxie Hart. I’m excited to get this partnership back together and make DWTS history.”
In a post on instagram, Leavitt also celebrated the news.
“This secret was way too hard to keep! The incredible @markballas & I will be performing TOGETHER in @chicagomusical April 6-May3rd! Can’t wait to perform on stage together again 🥹😭❤️,” she wrote.
As did Ballas.
“his is a full-circle moment for me. One of the first shows I auditioned for after graduating musical theatre college was for the ensemble of Chicago in the West End in London. After many callbacks, and making it to the final call, I didn’t end up booking the gig. I was 19 years old, new to the industry, learning how to pay my dues, accept rejection, and be told no. Twenty years later, I’m making my return to Broadway as Billy Flynn. This will now be my 3rd Broadway show that I have had the pleasure to be a part of… Hard work, persistence, dedication to the craft, and relentlessness really do pay off. Thank you to my musical theatre teachers for instilling this in me, and for the years of tough love.
Lastly, thank you to @chicagomusical for trusting me with this role. It is truly an honor, and I can’t wait to get back out there on a Broadway stage. I hope to see you at the Ambassador Theatre starting April 6th to May 3rd,” he posted.
