Robert Irwin Shares How His ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Win Was Followed By A Serious Injury

Following his incredible run on “Dancing with the Stars,” where he claimed first place, Robert Irwin suffered a bad injury.

When speaking with Jimmy Fallon ahead of his appearance on The Tonight Show on Monday, May 4, Irwin revealed that he broke his foot while trying to recreate one of his dances at home.

“Nobody knows this. But it wasn’t actually on the show. This is after the season of ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ ended,” Irwin explained. “I was alone in my room. I have a little fireplace, it’s made out of stones. And I’m sitting there going, ‘I wonder if I’ve still got it.'”

Irwin then put on “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf, which was the song to which he performed his first jive.

“You know, the one that has all the kicks? I put the song on and I just start going full HAM, 100% around my house,” Irwin added. “And I just slam my foot into the fireplace.”

“I’m rolling on the floor, ballooned, like this giant bruise,” he added. “And yeah, I broke my foot doing the jive in my living room, on my own. It was humiliating.”

Robert Irwin’s DWTS Partner Reacts To His Injury

In the interview, Irwin also admitted that nobody knew about the injury, but his partner from “Dancing with the Stars,’ Witney Carson, made sure to set the record straight.

Underneath the Instagram post by the Tonight Show, Carson didn’t hesitate to provide her take.

“Love how you say ‘no one knows this,’ you should have followed with ‘except for Witney,’ she commented.

The news finally is out, we’re finding The Next Pro for @dancingwiththestars ❤️ … and a dream of mine to judge alongside my son @markballas has finally come true,” Shirley Ballas shared in an Instagram post. ““I cannot wait for you all to witness what’s in store.
