“Dancing with the Stars” Season 34 fan-favorite competitor Robert Irwin is gearing up for Dedication Night in Week 5, and it’s going to be his most emotional performance yet.
For Show Day on Tuesday, October 14, Irwin chose to dedicate his dance to his mom, Terri Irwin. When his late father, Steve Irwin, died on September 4, 2006, Terri raised Robert and his older sister, Bindi, on her own. She has done an incredible job. Robert will be performing a Contemporary to “You’ll Be In My Heart” by Phil Collins.
Robert Irwin Honors His Mom
On Monday, October 13, Robert reflected on what the dance for Dedication Night means to him and why he’s dedicating this performance to his mom. On Instagram, he posted two black and white photos of himself and professional dance partner Witney Carson in rehearsals, and then other throwback pictures from when he was younger with his parents.
“It has been an emotional week in rehearsals. I’ve been thinking a lot about my mum and her strength, I’ve been reminiscing on the times we’ve spent as a family and how she has kept my dad part of my life,” he wrote in the caption. “This dance is for my mum, it’s for anyone who’s lost someone… and it’s for all the strong mothers of the world who deserve our recognition and appreciation.”
Fans have flooded the comment section of the post with supportive messages for Robert, and there have been beautiful, emotional reactions. “Terri doesn’t get the recognition she deserves fr!!!! that woman is a blessing,” a comment reads. “Terri is a GLOBAL TREASURE. A legend,” another person wrote.
“OK, well now I’m crying Robert and I haven’t even seen the damn dance yet. You’re such a good son, your Pops would be very proud of you,” a third fan shared.
Terri also reacted to her son’s message, writing, “I love you forever and always. Together we are strong.”
Carson showed her support. “So proud of you,” she wrote.
Fellow DWTS Season 34 competitor Danielle Fishel also reacted. “I’m in tears – your mom deserves this praise and I know you and @witneycarson are going to crush this contemporary!” she shared.
Robert Irwin’s Family Is Everything
On October 11, Robert posted a throwback photo of his family on Instagram. The picture shows his late dad Steve, mom Terri, sister Bindi, and himself. All of them are smiling for the camera, and it’s a stunning photo. “My family. My everything,” Irwin wrote in the caption.
He received overwhelming support from fans. DWTS Season 34 contestant Dylan Efron also reacted. “This dance is going to be beautiful,” he wrote.
