Robert Irwin Made Viewers Gasp With Shirtless ‘DWTS’ Moment
On the September 30 episode of “DWTS,” the contestants tackled the TikTok night theme, with Irwin and Carson dancing the Salsa to “Million Dollar Baby” by Tommy Richman.
At one point, Irwin ripped off his shirt, a moment that will most likely be one of the most talked about of the season.
The pair scored a 22/30 for the performance, with judge Derek Hough noting, “It was rigid. It was stiff for Salsa.”
In an interview with Page Six following his performance, Irwin touched on why he decided to lose the shirt during their dance.
“I was bummed that I had to put the shirt back on! That was a bit of fun, I liked that,” Irwin said.
The animal conservationist continued, “[The idea] kind of started with me. I was like, ‘It’s Million Dollar Baby,’ it’s an edgy song, it’s TikTok Night,’ and I wanted to show a different side to myself.”
He added, “I knew that ‘cool guy Robert’ was in there somewhere, and I was like, ‘I want to unleash new energy.’ And Witney was like, ‘Alright, let’s go for it.’ And we went for it!”
Irwin also touched on how his DMs have been blowing up after he said he’s single and “still looking” for the perfect girl. “Oh my goodness, the DMs,” he said. “First of all, it just means so, so much. But, yeah, I’m on the lookout and it’ll happen when it happens … keep it coming!”
Carson joked, “We are so busy right now, girls, OK? We’re trying to win a mirrorball. So, settle down! Maybe don’t email me a hundred times a day.”
Fans Praise Irwin for His ‘DWTS’ Performance
Irwin’s fans flooded the comments section of his Instagram post, praising him for his stellar performance, writing, “Amazing!!” and “You were fantastic!”
Others commented, “Fire, get it man!🔥” and “You’re doing amazing Robert!! 🥳🥰.”
“DWTS” alum Peta Murgatroyd summed it up with two words: “Holy crap.”
One fan wondered, “Is there anything that this man can’t do?”
