It’s officially ‘Wicked’ Night on “Dancing with the Stars,” and let’s be real; the anticipation for this routine is off the charts. Scott Hoying and pro-partner, Rylee Arnold, are about to take the ballroom by storm with a Contemporary routine to “The Wizard and I.”
This number promises something deeper and more emotional. Scott’s natural sense of storytelling paired with Rylee’s fluid, expressive choreography feels like the perfect mix for a song this powerful. Fans are buzzing that this could be one of their standout performances yet. And honestly, it seems like they’re ready to prove just how magical their partnership can be.
WARNING: This post was updated LIVE as the October 21, 2025 episode aired and contains spoilers for Week 6 of “Dancing with the Stars.”
Why This Could Be Their Breakthrough Moment
“The Wizard and I” carries a ton of emotional weight; and for a contemporary routine, that’s gold. It seems like every week, Scott and Rylee are syncing up more and more, finding that balance between theatrical and authentic. Scott’s always had the musical instincts. But this week gave him a chance to show just how far he’s come as a dancer.
Rylee continues to shine as a choreographer too. She’s figured out how to play to Scott’s strengths (using his natural rhythm and performance energy) while pushing him into new territory. It’s a risk, sure, but it’s one that’s paying off.
And with “Wicked” and “Wicked: For Good” director Jon M. Chu sitting in as guest judge, this performance had a little extra meaning. He’s someone who understands the heart of the story they’re telling; and you could tell the pair wanted to do it justice.
And The Scores Are In…
- Bruno Tonioli: 7/10
- Derek Hough: 7/10
- Carrie Ann Inaba: 7/10
- Jon M. Chu: 7/10
The judges gave Scott and Rylee a 28/40 for this week, and their reactions said it all… they were thrilled. Added to their 30/40 from last week, Scott and Rylee are sitting at a two-night total of 58/80.
Whether or not he makes it to the finals, Scott Hoying has proved he’s got more than just a voice. He’s got heart, grit, and the kind of stage presence that makes you want to root for him. It seems like each week, he’s building momentum, and Rylee’s right there matching him beat for beat.
Closing Out an Epic Night
