Alison Sweeney Had a Heartwarming Reason to Feel Nervous Filming ‘Romance on Hope Ranch’

Hallmark fan favorite Alison Sweeney is excited for everybody to see her new movie, “Romance on Hope Ranch.” Ahead of the February 28 Hallmark Channel premiere, Sweeney gushed over one specific part of her filming experience. Sweeney’s 17 year old daughter, Megan Sweeney, plays her daughter on-screen.

Alison Sweeney Loved Sharing the Filming Experience With Her Daughter

On February 27, Sweeney shared a sweet post about “Romance on Hope Ranch” on her Instagram page. She included a wide range of photos that highlighted Megan’s time on the set. Some of the pictures were selfies and some were from behind the scenes during filming. Others were official Hallmark photos. All of the shots showcased the bond between the Hallmark star and her daughter.

In the caption of her post, Sweeney wrote, “You probably all know by now that Megan came to New Mexico to play my daughter in Romance on Hope Ranch. It was such a blast to have her with me on set – and she was so great in the movie!

Sweeney noted that she loved having the opportunity to share something like this with her daughter, and she loved seeing Megan shine.

In fact, Sweeney admitted, “Seeing Megan shine as a smart, funny & beautiful young woman filled my heart to overflowing. I can’t wait for you all to share this movie with us.”

Sweeney and her daughter playfully interviewed each other for Entertainment Tonight ahead of the Hallmark movie’s debut, as well.

Sweeney admitted that she was nervous for her daughter during filming. She explained, “I really wasn’t nervous, until, literally, they said action… Thinking we should have practiced this more, this could go terribly wrong, and I really didn’t think this through ahead of time.” Luckily, all went well.

Allison & Megan Sweeney Showcase Their Sweet Bond

Hallmark fans are eager to see the mother and daughter pair in “Romance on Hope Ranch.” Many expressed their excitement in the comment section of Sweeney’s Instagram post.

One fan commented, “I still have the image of you carrying baby Megan onto the stage on the Ellen Degeneres show years ago, lol. So this is really exciting & so special you were able to share the screen in a movie. Congratulations to you both, can’t wait to watch!”

Another wrote, “I can’t wait to see it! Glad you got to share something so special with your daughter. Some great memories!”

“Sharing something so special with your daughter is a memory that will not be forgotten,” someone else added.

An additional fan enthusiastically shared, “Oh Ali! I am Super Excited. I bet seeing you both on Horseback will make me Cry…So Happy for you both and all of us!” That fan added that they were recording it and might keep it forever.

During their chat on Entertainment Tonight, both mother and daughter realized that an early scene in “Romance on Hope Ranch” gave the duo a bit of a practice run for a major family change on the horizon. While Megan isn’t ready to head off to college quite yet, that’s exactly what her character does in the movie.

Megan noted that she knows saying goodbye to her mom and head off to college will be an emotional experience. She wondered if getting a bit of practice ahead of time with the movie might make it easier.

Sweeney concurred. She remembered wondering if it was nice that they had that test run, or if it might have been something of a spoiler. Although both mom and daughter decided it wasn’t the case, the Hallmark star suggested that the real deal might not seem all that major now that they went through it for the movie.

While the filming experience went well, and Megan enjoyed it, she admitted that she wasn’t necessarily interested in pursuing acting further. The Hallmark star got a good chuckle out of her daughter’s response.
