Crystal Lowe Calmly Celebrates ‘Huge Win’ After Double-Mastectomy Surgery

There’s something powerful about celebrating the small wins. And for Crystal Lowe, one of those wins just came in the form of a very cozy sweatshirt.

After publicly revealing her stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in a very personal essay back in October 2025 (via People), the actress has been sharing pieces of her journey with fans along the way. Now, in a new update, Lowe is offering another glimpse into her recovery after undergoing a double-mastectomy; and keeping things hopeful while she does it.

The message? Recovery might come with strange moments, a few nerves, and a lot of patience… but progress is still progress. And yep, even something as simple as pulling a sweatshirt over your head can feel like a major victory.

Crystal Lowe Shares a Recovery Update After Surgery

In an Instagram update posted March 10, 2026, Lowe let fans know she’s officially taken another step forward in the healing process.

Specifically, she had the drains removed following surgery… something she admitted she was pretty nervous about beforehand. The actress didn’t sugarcoat those nerves either, explaining exactly how she felt leading up to the procedure.

“I just wanted to let you know that I’m doing great today. Yesterday was so scary, I think because I just was like, ‘Oh my God, maybe I’m not ready for you to take the drains out. Maybe I need them in longer. What if you take them out too early?’ But it wasn’t too early. It was right. I didn’t feel it.”

She then described how the removal actually worked, sharing details about the procedure and how it felt in the moment.

“They come and they snip it near where the incision is, and they just pull it out. I did feel it going through my body. That was… They used a magnet to find where they could put the needle in, I guess. I didn’t look… to put the saline in, and I did get 100 CC’s yesterday. I didn’t really feel anything, just some tightness yesterday and made me feel a little woozy, but that was about it.”

Lowe also told fans she’s taking recovery slowly, noting that after every procedure she tries to stay calm and rest. Honestly? That mindset seems to be serving her well.

And while the drains coming out felt “weird,” she joked that she had almost gotten used to them by that point.

A ‘Huge Win’ That Fans Will Understand

The most relatable moment of Lowe’s update came when she shared what felt like a surprisingly big milestone in recovery.

After weeks of limited movement, she finally managed to pull a sweatshirt over her head instead of wearing zip-up tops.

“And now I’m wearing a big, giant sweatshirt that I got over my head, which is a huge win because I’ve only been able to do zip-ups.”

It’s the kind of everyday moment that might seem small on the surface. But anyone who has gone through surgery (or supported someone who has) knows how meaningful those milestones can be.

And Lowe’s calm, steady attitude throughout the update kept the focus exactly where it belongs: on healing and forward movement.

From Hallmark Favorite to Fan-Favorite Franchise

Longtime fans likely first connected with Lowe through her role as Rita Haywith in the beloved Hallmark series “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”

The 2014 show quickly developed a devoted fanbase, following a group of postal workers who specialize in delivering lost mail and reconnecting people with letters that change lives. The success of the series eventually turned it into a long-running collection of movies.

  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Christmas” (2014)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From Paris with Love” (2015)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Truth Be Told” (2015)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Impossible Dream” (2015)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: From the Heart” (2016)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: One in a Million” (2016)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Lost Without You” (2016)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Higher Ground” (2017)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Home Again” (2017)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Travelled” (2018)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar” (2018)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made” (2021)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: A Tale of Three Letters” (2024)
  • “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back” (2025)

It seems like Lowe’s warmth on screen has always been part of what fans love about the franchise; and that same positivity is clearly carrying through her real-life journey now.

If Crystal Lowe’s latest update proves anything, it’s this: healing doesn’t always arrive with fireworks. Sometimes it shows up quietly… in the form of a big sweatshirt and a really good day.

And let’s be real; those are the wins worth celebrating.
