Hallmark Alum Reveals Her ‘Slightly Embarrassing’ Moment Fans Should Watch For at 2026 Awards Show

No matter how polished a moment looks on TV, it seems like there’s always something happening just off-script. But that’s what makes live (or live-to-tape, in this case) award shows fun. And former Hallmark star, Danica McKellar just reminded us all that even seasoned pros have their “whoops” moments.

The actress took to Instagram on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, to share a slightly embarrassing mishap that happened while filming the upcoming 33rd Annual MovieGuide Awards. And instead of cringing about it? She leaned into the moment. Because sometimes the only thing to do is laugh; even at yourself.

Danica McKellar: A Grateful Nominee

McKellar made it clear how meaningful the night was to her. She described the ceremony as “an extraordinary celebration of faith on screen,” adding that she is “so grateful.”

And there was even more reason to celebrate. McKellar shared that she was “ incredibly honored to be nominated for Best Actress” for her Great American Family film, “Have We Met This Christmas?”

The award is actually officially called the Grace Prize for Most Inspiring Performance for Streaming (Actress), and McKellar has some tough competition in the form of some strong women. Other nominees include Natasha Bure for “Timeless Tidings of Joy,” Candace Cameron Bure for “Timeless Tidings of Joy,” Erin Krakow for “When Calls The Heart” Episode 12.2, Shae Robins for “A Christmas Prayer,” and Serayah for “Ruth & Boaz.”

As it turns out, McKellar’s excitement at just being nominated may have played a small role in what happened.

The Epic Envelope Incident

We’ve all been there. You’re excited. Everyone is clapping. And you’re holding something important. Suddenly… gravity wins.

In her post, McKellar hilariously confessed:

“OMG Note to self: While I’m grateful to have been blessed with many talents, “clapping while holding an envelope” does not appear to be one of them. 😁 To be fair, when you watch the awards this Thursday you’ll see why I was so excited about the winner that I dropped my envelope. 🥰”

Yes. She dropped the envelope on stage. But the best part? She’s clearly not embarrassed in a mortifying way. It reads more like, “Yep, that happened,” followed by a big smile.

Let’s be real; those are the moments that make awards shows feel human.

She even teased viewers that if the cameras cut away quickly, eagle-eyed fans might still spot the envelope making its dramatic descent:

“You might even catch me dropping the envelope… but if they cut away to the winners, you might still see it magically move from my hands to the floor as the winners walk on stage. 🥰 Enjoy the show!!”

And to be truthful…. all that did was make us all want to watch. And see if it makes into the TV version.

A New Era for the ‘MovieGuide Awards’

Now, about the awards ceremony itself. Once again, the 33rd Annual MovieGuide Awards will air on Great American Family. And no, you’re not going crazy, in the past these awards were previously broadcast by Hallmark.

According to McKellar’s post, the show airs Thursday, March 5th at 8:00pm ET on Great American Family and will also stream on Great American Pure Flix. Hosting duties go to Cameron Mathison, who McKellar called “the incomparable.”

Honestly? McKellar’s little envelope mishap only makes the whole thing more endearing. Award shows can sometimes feel overly polished and scripted. Moments like this remind viewers that there are real people up there; excited, grateful, and occasionally juggling paper goods unsuccessfully.

We’ll definitely be watching Thursday night. Not just for the winners. But for the envelope. Because if it does make its on-screen cameo? That’s peak awards season energy.

The 2026 MovieGuide Awards air Thursday, March 5th at 8:00pm ET on Great American Family, streaming on Great American Pure Flix.
