Jared Padalecki and Matt Czuchry brought “Gilmore Girls” fans a dose of nostalgia this week, stepping back into a bit of Stars Hollow magic as they reunited for a new Panera Bread campaign.
The actors, who played Dean Forester and Logan Huntzberger on the long-running WB and CW drama, were photographed together in a spot that immediately sparked excitement across social media.
The ad leans directly into the decades-old debate over Rory Gilmore’s boyfriends.
The Hilarious Reunion
In the Panera campaign, the soups are tied to each of Rory’s major relationships: Dean is represented as hearty chili, Logan as creamy autumn squash, and Jess Mariano as black bean.
The campaign positions each flavor as a reflection of the personalities that divided fans during the show’s original run.
For Padalecki, this marks a rare on-camera moment with one of his former “Gilmore Girls” co-stars.
After leaving the series, he became best known for his 15-season role as Sam Winchester on “Supernatural” and later as the lead on the CW’s “Walker.”
Czuchry went on to steady success with “The Good Wife” and “The Resident.”
Though the two didn’t overlap heavily during the original “Gilmore Girls” timeline — Czuchry’s Logan didn’t appear until season five — their association with Rory’s storylines has kept them at the center of fandom discussions.
The reunion is also timed well, as all seven seasons found a nice new home on Hallmark Channel.
Next year marks the 25th anniversary of “Gilmore Girls,” which premiered in 2000 and built a loyal audience through its mix of rapid-fire dialogue, small-town eccentricities, and multigenerational storytelling.
Netflix’s 2016 revival, “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” proved the series still carried cultural weight years after its finale.
Fans Can’t Get Enough
The campaign itself has doubled as a clever marketing move for Panera.
By tying menu items to pop-culture nostalgia, the company is aiming to connect with the millennial fan base that grew up debating “Team Dean,” “Team Logan,” or “Team Jess.”
While the Panera spot may be lighthearted, the response shows fans still can’t get enough of “Gilmore Girls.”
Fans loved the reunion and took to social media to display their excitement.
“WHO in WHAT department thought of this?! They need a raise IMMEDIATELY,” one user wrote.
Another added, “This ad deserves an award.”
“HAHAHA I LOVE THIS AND THEM SO MUCH. THEY AGED LIKE FINE WINE,” one fan added.
“I think this might be my favourite advert of all time!!!! And I am all for the sophisticated soup, love me some squash soup,” another added.
