Hallmark recently revealed plans to make a follow-up movie to “A Biltmore Christmas,” and now fans have an opportunity to be in the film.
Hallmark Is Casting Extras for the New Biltmore Movie
The new movie, which will debut during the 2026 “Countdown to Christmas” season, stars Holland Roden and Niall Matter. Production begins quite soon, and those in the vicinity of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, could snag a gig as an extra on the movie.
According to the Charlotte Observer, Hallmark is looking to cast extras of all ages. Filming is slated to begin on January 12 and continue until February 2.
The media outlet indicated that Hallmark will be adding extras to various scenes throughout the full filming period. As a result, those who send in their information hoping to be cast may not hear back right away.
Those who would like to apply should email Marty Cherrix at cherrixcastingnc@gmail.com. The subject line should simply contain “Hallmark.”
The body of the email needs to include a recent photo and the applicant’s full name, age, phone number, height, and weight.
The gig will pay $120 per day, with overtime pay for anything beyond eight hours. As the Charlotte Observer noted, some days last as long as 12 hours.
This is not the first time that Hallmark has reached out to locals to cast extras. According to Biltmore, “A Biltmore Christmas” was filmed there in November 2023.
During filming, 300 area residents were chosen to serve as extras. However, Biltmore shared, over 8,000 people submitted applications. The network noted that it was the highest number of applications they had ever received for such an opportunity.
Hallmark Fans Will See More of the Biltmore Estate in the New Movie
Biltmore VP of Guest Experiences Chase Pickering told Asheville’s WLOS that Hallmark has been working on the new Biltmore movie for about a year. He revealed that the staff at the Biltmore Estate enjoys working with Hallmark on these movies because they even get to add their thoughts on some of the storyline points.
During the first movie, Biltmore shared, Hallmark filmed at the estate for 15 days. Outdoor areas, specifically The Loggia as well as the Library Terrace, were incorporated into filming. In addition, nine Biltmore House rooms and four The Inn on Biltmore Estate rooms were used for filming.
This time, Pickering told WLOS, Hallmark plans to incorporate more of the outdoor areas within the Biltmore Estate. The Biltmore Winery, as well as The Inn and Antler Hill Village, are currently on the list.
Several local Asheville spots will also be used for filming the next Biltmore Christmas movie.
The New Storyline Takes Everyone Back to the Gilded Age
The upcoming movie will travel back 130 years, to the first night the Biltmore House was open. That was in 1895, during the Gilded Age.
As People noted, during “A Biltmore Christmas,” Bethany Joy Lenz starred as Lucy Hardgrove, who visited the area to recreate a 1947 movie. What she didn’t expect was that a magical hourglass would take her back to the time when the movie was actually filmed.
Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha starred in the original movie, which aired in 2023.
