The third film in Hallmark Channel‘s “Haul Out the Holly” series has some exciting ‘firsts.’ The most exciting is that it’s the first in the franchise to focus on Halloween instead of Christmas. Not only does “Haul Out the Halloween” incorporate all of the spooky decorations you expect, but the addition of “Halloweentown” alums Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz have added to fans’ excitement.
The second first — at least for Lacey Chabert — is that a wedding takes place right at the opening of the movie. “I don’t think I’ve ever gotten married in the beginning of a movie,” Chabert told Behind the Screens (BTS). “It was fun not to have to wait until the eighth or ninth act.”
However, besides the various ‘firsts,’ Chabert describes “Haul Out the Halloween” as “a lot of things in one.”
Lacey Chabert Kicks Off “Haul Out the Halloween” with a Heartfelt Wedding Scene
The wedding at the beginning of the film is between Emily (Chabert) and Jared (Wes Brown), who fell in love in the first movie. “I thought it was handled really well,” Chabert told BTS’s Joshua Maloni. “And you see the love and joy between these neighbors – that they’re not just neighbors; they really are family.”
Chabert looked at the wedding as a “full-circle moment of this beautiful, romantic relationship.” However, it was just one of the major elements of the film.
It’s also about “the friendship and camaraderie of all the neighbors of Evergreen Lane,” “The Christmas Quest” star explained. “But it’s also now Halloween. How are they going to tackle Halloween now that they have these new neighbors who have moved into the lane?”
The new neighbors are none other than Brown and Kountz. Besides being a real-life couple who starred in “Halloweentown 2” together, Brown is Chabert’s best friend.
“What a dream (and) blessing of a job to be able to act across my best friend and then act next to my husband,” Brown told Today. “And we all got to do it together and laugh and have fun.”
