Holly Robinson Peete Shares a Sweet Video About Her Son and the Dodgers — ‘I Can’t Help It’

Fans of Holly Robinson Peete will be well aware of the fact that she’s a popular Hallmark star, an accomplished actress and a loving mother. When it comes to the latter role, Holly is pretty darn proud of her kids, including her son RJ, who happens to work with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Holly Posted a Look at RJ Working with the Dodgers

Holly took to Instagram on Saturday, May 30, and shared a video that showed her TV. The Dodgers game was on and athough a player was being interviewed, the actress was focused on something else. That’s why she zoomed in on the bottom corner of the screen where her son could be seen standing in the dugout.

In the caption, she wrote, “🤦🏽‍♀️🥹💙😬😂 #dodgerswin #proudclubbymama”

She also included text over the video that reads: “I can’t help it 🤦🏽‍♀️”

Holly’s followers left plenty of comments on her post, with one person writing, “As you should!!! I’m always looking to see him. ❤️”

“Even if it was his arm sticking out I would’ve done the same thing 😂😂 that’s mothers love 🫶🏾,” another fan added.

A third social media follower wrote, “RJ is a true ray of sunshine and we are always looking for warmth and comfort ❤️.”

“You should be proud…RJ is the heart of the Dodgers,” came from another person.

Someone else said, “Hehe!! Just a proud Mama 👏🏾”

RJ Has Worked with the Dodgers Since 2016

If you like to watch Dodgers games, then you’ve probably spotted RJ even if you didn’t realize it. That’s because he’s been with the team for a decade.

For a little background, after Holly “and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, married in 1995, they welcomed four children: twins RJ and Ryan, as well as sons Robbie and Roman,” according to People.

“When the couple’s son RJ was 3 years old, he was diagnosed with autism, and a pediatrician explained that his life would be different from that of his peers,” People noted. Although the doctor was surely referring to behavioral or learning differences, there’s another way that RJ stands out among his peers: His job.

“Since 2016, RJ has been working with the Dodgers, where he serves as a clubhouse attendant,” People explains. “He was hired after Dodgers executive Lon Rosen saw an episode of the family’s reality television series, For Peete’s Sake, which focused on helping RJ land a job.”

Although earning a role with the team was impressive enough, People points out that “[h]e was the first new hire in the coveted clubhouse position in over a decade.”

As for what exactly he does for the team, “RJ’s job involves preparing the bullpen before games, cleaning the dugout after games and helping with laundry.”

“Everybody here has my back and they are always here for me no matter what,” RJ told the Los Angeles Times in August 2023. “These are the best friends I’ve ever had. I love these guys and I love being around these guys. I look up to them.”

Holly spoke to People that same year, saying, “It’s been a godsend. I love this team with my whole heart.”

When the Dodgers won the World Series in October 2024, Holly shared a collection of photos and videos featuring her son’s time with the team, and wrote, “Dear RJ 💙 When you were three a developmental pediatrician diagnosed you with autism and told you all the things that you would NEVER do or be.”

“One of the things that she said is that you would never have meaningful employment and all we heard was basically that your life wouldn’t have much meaning…💔,” she recalled.

Holly continued, “Well, here you are 9 seasons in with an organization that gave you a shot at employment and gave your life meaning and purpose and now you have worked 4 World Series and will have TWO World Series rings with your name on them!! 🎉🙏🏽🏆🏆”

“You work so hard. You grind and grind and always have a hug for everybody in the organization, whether it’s after a tough game or you’re unpacking the team at four in the morning …no matter what you always bring joy to that clubhouse,” she added. “You remember everybody’s name and birthdays! You’re so passionate about your job. You went from having few friends as a child to having a whole clubhouse full of buddies who love you and care for you like family.”
