Hallmark’s “When Calls the Heart” prequel, “Hope Valley: 1874” debuts on the network’s streaming platform in March. The network just shared a new preview for the series, and fans are buzzing over it.
“This looks good. Bethany and Benjamin are great choices to be a couple. Hopefully Hallmark gets this show right,” one fan raved after seeing the new sneak peek.
The ‘When Calls the Heart’ Prequel Is About Building Hope in a New Community
On February 21, a new preview for “Hope Valley: 1874” was shared on the Hallmark+ Instagram page. Each of the primary stars in the show were included, along with a few glimpses of additional cast members.
In the preview, “Hope Valley: 1874” star Bethany Joy Lenz is heard speaking as her character, Rebecca Clarke. The scenes show Rebecca as well as Benjamin Ayres, who plays Tom Moore, and Jill Hennessy, who portrays Hattie Quinn.
“Rebecca” shares, “We came West, searching for a new life. We discovered, we are not alone. We found possibilities all around us and compassion in a family of strangers.”
“What we’re building is more than just a home. We’re building hope,” Rebecca adds.
The clip shows Tom and Rebecca exchanging some meaningful glances, and Hallmark has teased that romance is likely on the horizon for these two.
The caption of the post reads, “They were searching for a new life. What they found was hope.”
After seeing the new preview, one excited fan commented, “So exciting! We’re ready for more HOPE in our lives!”
“The stars have aligned looking forward to seeing Benjamin Ayres in 1874,” another fan gushed.
Someone else added, “Joy elevates every project she’s in! I’m so excited for this!”
‘Hope Valley: 1874’ Begins Streaming on Hallmark+ in March
Hallmark describes “Hope Valley: 1874” as a show that will “take viewers back in time to follow the early settlers of the community that will one day become the beloved frontier town of Hope Valley.”
Viewers can expect lots of “perseverance and romance” in the new series. Rebecca is a mother to a young daughter who finds herself in Hope Valley facing a “new chapter in her life.”
Hope Valley wasn’t her destination, but what she finds there leads her to believe she may have found exactly what she needed. Hallmark shares that the area “starts out as [a] collection of isolated settlers” and becomes a “close-knit community during the rugged and hopeful Pioneer Era.”
The “When Calls the Heart” prequel “Hope Valley: 1874” debuts on Hallmark+ on Saturday, March 21.

This really needs to be on regular Hallmark…so much of the good shows are on hallmark +, we need to see some new things not old old stuff
Two of my favorites. But should not be on Hallmark +. We all should be able to enjoy this. I already pay extra on my cable bill to carry Hallmark, I should not have to pay extra money for Hallmark + to watch another Hallmark show.
If Hope Valley 1874 is suppose to be a part of Hope Valley before the series is now!! Then they should show Hope Valley 1874 one hour before WCTH comes on and on the same Hallmark Channel!! Most people have to already pay for Hallmark Channels, we shouldn’t have to pay for Hallmark+ Channel!! I already have 3 Hallmark Channels that I pay for on my cable bill!!! I shouldn’t have to pay extra for another Hallmark!! And I am sure there are quit a lot of people, mainly Senior Citizens and young Adults just starting out can’t afford to pay more for another Hallmark+!!!
Please show Hope Valley on the Hallmark channel. Otherwise I can’t watch it and I want to see it. I really love WCTH. PLEASE.
