On Jan. 17, “Love on the Amazon” premiered on the Hallmark Channel, starring Jaicy Elliot and Rafael de la Fuente. Many Hallmark films are shot in a different location than where they’re set, but not this film. “Love on the Amazon” was actually shot in the Amazon rainforest. For French-born Elliot, the experience allowed her to check off one of her bucket list items: travel to South America.
“I moved to the States in the hope of traveling to South America,” she revealed on an appearance on the “Suspenders Unbuttoned” podcast. “Then quickly I started working, and then I just, I never went. So that was a really exciting, new thing for me to do, that I had wanted to do for a really long time.”
Jaicy Elliot: ‘The Harder It Is, The More Rewarding It Is’
Hallmark star Elliot grew up in Grenoble, France, to an American father and French mother. She moved to the U.S. around 2015 and, while many actors have talked about the years waiting tables, Elliot debuted as “Grey’s Anatomy” intern Taryn Helm just two years after arriving in LA.
“I was lucky enough to start on a show, and so I sort of skipped over the challenging projects,” she said. “And so I was very excited to be put in a situation where I would be tested. Where my professionalism would be tested, where my endurance — it really is a game of endurance to shoot something like this. And it’s a little bit like, the harder it is, the more rewarding it is, and that’s truly how it felt in the end. So that was great.”
“It was quite a feat to shoot this movie,” the “Joyeux Noel” star admitted. “We were on location, we were actually dropped in the middle of the Amazon. And so for very many reasons, it was a challenge.”
Elliot Reflects on Striking Travel Experience: ‘It’s a Dangerous Place, But So Beautiful”
While Elliot wasn’t a fan of the tarantulas or mosquitoes, the bothersome aspects were minuscule compared to the beauty she saw.
“It’s a beautiful place; it’s a dangerous place,” the “My Southern Family Christmas” star said. “You get all the bugs, but also you get all the incredible butterflies. I don’t know for you guys, but I hadn’t seen so many colorful butterflies in a really long time. And it brought a sense of whimsical to the experience, as well.”
It’s so beautiful,” she continued. “It’s so breathtaking.”
“I want to go back, so, you know, we’ll see,” she added.

I enjoyed watching this. Cute movie. Beautiful scenes of the Amazon!
