Timothy Busfield has a pending case against him, and he is dealing with legal troubles. He surrendered to Albuquerque police on January 13, and all eyes are now on him and his family. Busfield’s wife, Hallmark actress Melissa Gilbert, has shown her support for him in a letter to the court. Her elderly mother, Barbara Gilbert, is also among those who wrote letters to the judge as a testament to Busfield’s character.

GettyIn the letter Barbara wrote in support of Busfield, she praises him for exemplifying many terrific qualities and for being deeply loved and respected. “I could not love & respect him more if I had carried him as my own,” Barbara’s letter reads, People reports. “I am sorry for anyone who has not been graced [with] his love, generosity, kindness, playfulness, caring, teachings, availability, strength, and on & on.”
She continued, “I am a very protective mother, and grandmother & great grand mother. Tim has taken care of all my previous little ones. They can’t wait for their fun & special times with him. I don’t blame them. Tim is magical. I would trust all with him today.”
Barbara also listed reasons why Busfield has impacted her life and has been there for her. “From day one, he was my real son,” she wrote. “He is the man & the strength I look forward to as I enter my nineties. I need him in my life. There is no one that can ever take his place for me, or for anyone else in this family or our extended family. The world is a better place with Timothy Busfield in it.”

GettyGilbert and her youngest son, Michael Boxleitner, whom she shares with ex-husband, actor Bruce Boxleitner, have both penned letters in support of Busfield. Busfield has known Michael since he was a teen and has been an important figure in his life.
Publicly, the “Little House on the Prairie” actress has said little, releasing only a statement through her rep. “During this period, her focus is on supporting and caring for their very large family, as they navigate this moment. Melissa stands with and supports her husband and will address the public at an appropriate time,” her statement read, People reports. “We ask that their privacy be respected.”
Gilbert is focusing on their large blended family. Gilbert is a mom to two children, while Busfield is a father to three.
I met and got to speak to Mr. Busfield at Logan airport and found him to be of the classiest people I’ve ever met. This whole thing is nothing more than a shakedown because two little brats didn’t get an acting gig. Fortunately he’ll have his his day in court. I am quite sure he will win and live his life.

He has been accused of “possibly touching inappropriately not rape. Also, I haven’t heard anything about any proof this happened. So innocent until proven guilty. Shame on you to jump to conclusions.

In today’s environment false allegations are rampant. People are jumping on the crying wolf bandwagon. We are so ready to accuse guilty before we know all of the facts. In America, you are innocent until proven. I will wait to rush to judgment until the allegations are confirmed. Having known someone falsely accused-I know how it can destroy a life.
