The cast of the hit Hallmark series “The Chicken Sisters” is even closer in real life than we thought, according to Genevieve Angelson. The actor and her TV mom Wendie Malick sat down for an interview with PIX 11 News and revealed the cast’s tight bond. “We’re obsessed with each other,” Angelson said.
Malick chimed in to echo the statement, explaining, “Genevieve and Schuyler [Fisk] and Lea [Thompson], we have a very happy quartet.” It seems the women grew closer while filming the series, living together in Vancouver for several months.
Angelson shared that “you don’t always get that lucky” when it comes to making close connections at work. “You pray to be surrounded by one friend you love, and in fact we have created the most indispensable, offscreen family where we hang out with each other for fun,” she said.
And it’s not just the cast who has bonded, but everyone working on “The Chicken Sisters,” which is now in its second season. “The crew and the writers and the whole group … it was really like a giant family,” Malick revealed.
Angelson & Malick Have Shown Their Love for Each Other All Along
This was not the first time “The Chicken Sisters” cast showed their love for one another. In September 2024, Angelson and Malick spoke with Hollywood First Look, and their friendship was evident.
“I’ve been in love with Wendie since the day that I met her, which is very embarrassing to say,” Angelson shared, adding, “This was the most incredibly fond group of colleagues that I’ve ever had.”
“Lea and Wendie are women I’d like to be when I grow up and Schuyler is a genuine sister and friend,” the actor continued.
Malick explained how the cast’s closeness worked to make “The Chicken Sisters” as good as it is. “You never know what the chemistry will be like … with each of these four women, the dynamic was specific to each of these relationships and it brought something different out of you,” she said.
Angelson & Malick Joke Around Like Mother and Daughter
Fans love the dynamic between Malick’s character Gus and Angleson’s Mae, and in real life they are just as loveable a duo. During their chat with PIX 11 News, Angelson teased Malick when one of the hosts mentioned the word “beef.” “Beef as in men?” Malick asked and Angelson quipped, “Wendie has a type.”
The two women also joked around when Angelson’s strong physique was mentioned. “Can you tell she’s my daughter?” Malick said, pulling Angelson closer to her. “It’s almost like you’re seeing double.”
