Like in every season of “The Way Home,” Kat (Chyler Leigh) and Elliot (Evan Williams) have had a bumpy ride. In season 3, they start off together, with Kat choosing her relationship with Elliot above her connection with Thomas Coyle (Kris Holden-Ried) in 1814.

“I choose you,” Kat says. “I choose here and now.”

By episode 8, however, Kat and Elliot are on shaky ground. In addition to Kat coming clean about her relationship with Thomas, Elliot also shares a kiss with his ex-wife, Emma (Miranda Miller).

“Something is broken here, and I don’t know how we fix it,” Kat says during their fight. “And I wish we didn’t have to try so hard to make this work.” “Maybe that’s our answer then,” Elliot replies, before storming off.

In episode 9, however, Kat and Elliot make up and get back together when Elliot asks for Jacob’s (Spencer MacPherson) help to travel back in time to the the 1800s to help Kat. “You are amazing,” Kat says as they kiss.

Del Has Jumped in the Pond

After a long time coming, Andie MacDowell’s Del has officially joined her family members and become a time-traveler.

Her jump in the pond happened in the season finale after hearing Kat and Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) come clean about their experiences with Colton all season.

“Take me to see him,” Del asks them. Holding hands with both Kat and Alice, they jump right in.

When they get into the water, however, Alice time-travels to the 90s while Del and Kat make it to 1974. When they walk to the house, they witness teen Del (Julia Tomasone) and Colton’s (Jordan Doww) sweet, intimate wedding.

“It’s exactly how I remembered,” Del says in between tears.

Elliot’s Mom Left Him to Time Travel

Since the beginning of the series, Elliot’s parents have been a mystery. And while season 2 unpacked some of his father Vic’s (James Gallanders) backstory, including loosing his brother in a car accident when he was just a young boy, Elliot’s mom was said to have simply left when he was a baby.

In season 3, however, more of what happened to her is revealed. In the finale, Elliot connects a letter from his mom to the clock he found on the walls and a poem his mom loved from T.S. Elliot. In it, the poem reads “I jump for love.”

The show then pans to Elliot’s mom leaving baby Elliot behind on the edge of the pond as she jumps into the pond with a mysterious brown-haired man.

As it turns out, uncovering where she went and why she left her son will be a major plotpoint in season 4. In one of the teaser, Kat visits a new era in the 1920s in search of her. “This is why I go back, to find your mom,” Kat tells Elliot.

After his family’s arduous mission to bring him home, season 3 saw Jacob returning to the present and attempting to build a life for himself. Along the way, however, he was still haunted by everything that happened in 1814.

In episode 4, he’s invited to Lingermore by Louis Goodwin (Philip Riccio) and offered a job to oversee his new vineyard. At the house, he’s haunted by the ghost of Cyrus (Tim Post), a man who arrested and tortured him in the 1800s.

“I know you want me to stand on my own but I am struggling,” Jacob tells Del after storming out of the house. “The scars might’ve happened 200 years ago but for me, it’s only been nine months.”

Jacob then takes the job at the vineyard, only with the intention of destroying it instead.

In episode 9, Del rushes to the vineyard and stops her son from lighting it on fire. “You’ve got to let go of the past, Jacob,” she said, before they drive off together.

As it turns out, however, security footage caught the moment, and Jacob’s in deep trouble.

That’s when the mysterious Casey Goodwin, who was proved to be a time-traveler this season, swoops in and hands Jacob Susanna’s will which says she left Lingermore to the Landrys and not her family. With such a powerful document in his hand, Jacob has the opportunity to not only get out of trouble, but to dismantle the Goodwin dynasty altogether.

Colton Is a Time-Traveler

Lastly, season 3 confirmed once and for all that Colton Landry did indeed time travel.

As it turns out, Colton jumped in the pond for the first time on the last day of school in his junior year after getting in a fight with his mom. When he got out, he found himself in 1814, and met Jacob, Susanna (Watson Rose) and Elijah (Stuart Hughes).

Knowing a bit about Port Haven’s history, Colton gave them a hint about the harvest ahead, and told them to plant potatoes and rye.

By the next time Colton jumped in the pond, he landed in 1816 when the entire town, led by Cyrus himself, turned against the Landrys and accused them of being witches. The town then set their home on fire. “It was my fault,” Colton says. “Even though I was able to save someone from the fire, I basically destroyed my entire family’s future.”

With such a terrifying experience, it’s safe to say Colton to a break from time-traveling, even if just for a while.
