At the same time, the Vancouver Sun noted, “While the Hearties heart online interaction, they don’t stop at their devices when it comes to talking about their favourite show.”
Kim McDonald, who runs a “When Calls the Heart” Facebook fan page, told the Vancouver Sun about groups of avid viewers around the world who like to share their love of the series in person, saying, “We will get together for lunch and talk about the show and the little clues. Everybody is a sleuth as to what’s going to happen next.”
“WCTH celebrates connection,” the show’s star, Erin Krakow (who fans will recognize from the series as Elizabeth Thornton), said in an email that she sent to the Vancouver Sun. “It’s been so gratifying to see the ways the Hearties have come together in celebration of their own connections.”
Beyond that, Krakow explained, “We’ve seen decade-long friendships born out of our fan base, weddings between fans who met and fell in love over their shared passion for WCTH, babies named after favourite characters.”
She went on to say, “It continues to blow me away how Hearties show up for each other and for When Calls The Heart.”
