Erin Napier has a new family development that she’s been dreaming about for years. The HGTV star shared that she is now homeschooling her daughters and gave fans a peek at their school setup.
Erin Napier Reveals Homeschooling Plan
On September 1, Napier took to Instagram to share her homeschooling plans for daughters Helen and Mae.
“Homeschool was our dream from the day Helen was born, but work was busy then Mae was born and we just kept saying ‘someday we will,'” she explained in the caption of the since-deleted post.
Napier continued, “After 3 years at an amazing little school, the dream wouldn’t leave me alone and we weren’t ready to let this summer of being together and having fun end.”
She noted, “So, here we go. My painting studio became a classical school overnight.”
In a September 4 Instagram post, Napier shared a look at their cute school setup in her former studio. She also showed the book “The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education,” which many of her fans said is an excellent read for homeschooling.
Erin Napier Shares Tech Free Parenting Perspective
The HGTV star previously expressed her desire to keep their summer fun going in a July 2025 Instagram post. “How do we stop the clock so school never starts back?” she asked. “Anyone else soaking up this time with your kids like raisin bran in whole milk?”
The images showed her children enjoying the outdoors during their summer break.
The comments section was flooded with fans recommending homeschooling as an option. “I homeschooled mine from 4th grade until she left for college,” one fan noted. “Loved having all that added time together.”
“Homeschool friend,” another person wrote. “You gain all of that time back 💕.”
Another fan shared, “Homeschooling was the answer for us. Allowed for more time to study and get into areas of subject, play, etc. that helped her grow and thrive more that fit her learning needs. Not an option for everyone, but now I feel we do not miss anything. And she is happier.”
Napier has shared her stance about kids and technology in the past. She took a moment on July 1 to post a screenshot of a post from Nurtured First Parenting that read: “I’m 12. The kids in my class make fun of me because I’m the only one without a phone.”
Napier noted, “There are land lines, flip phones, gabb phones, watches — we can all say no to this together, you know?”
She explained that they normalize a low-tech approach from the start. “We’ve been teaching Helen since she was old enough to understand that our family is playing a different game,” Napier wrote. “We are people who will go against the flow, and we DO NOT CARE. She’s got a rebel attitude about this at this point, and she LOVES being different.”
The “Home Town” star also shared her thoughts about schooling and technology. “A school would rue the day I hear an assignment requires a phone or app for my girls,” she noted. “I am more than ready for that conversation, but hopeful we never have to have it. I think a sea change is coming in ed tech.”
