Erin Napier has always personalized her home redesigns with a painting showing her vision for a client’s home.
But now the HGTV star is giving Substack readers a look at the artwork that she sees every day on the walls of the home she shares with husband Ben Napier and their daughters 7-year-old Helen and 4-year-old Mae in Laurel, Mississippi.
In a post on The Color of Home’s Instagram page, a carousel of pictures reveals a painting of lemons and a beautiful wooden staircase filled with Helen and Mae’s artwork.
Another picture shows a simple fireplace where the mantle is filled with blue and white ceramics, topped by several paintings.
The Substack post is filled with glimpses of the Napiers’ home, filled with artwork and photographs on every wall.
The introduction reads, “Today, you’ll step into Erin and Ben’s art‑filled home in Laurel, MS. Their collection ranges from gorgeous fine art and heartfelt portraits of their two daughters to old family photos and kids artwork, a true reflection of what is important to them. Who knows, a Blakely painting may even hang among the pieces!”
Old Family Photos Greet Ben & Erin at Their Back Door
In the Substack, the “Home Town” designer reveals her treatment for precious old black and white family photos.
Erin Napier writes, “The back door entrance to our house is lined with out family history, they each have little brass plaques with their surnames attached to each photo.”
Those photos lead directly to a hallway dominated by an ornate staircase that holds all sizes of artwork by the couple’s young daughters.
In the Instagram post by The Color of Home, Erin comments, “all framing by @napierframeslaurel 👏”
One picture shows a light-filled room with two easels featuring half-done still lifes of a scene set on a table in front of the window.
Another picture shows a painting of biscuits on wood, hanging above a hallway door. Erin writes, “These biscuits were painted onto a piece of wood and hung in my grandmother Ouida Rasberry’s dining room my entire life. I don’t know who painted it, but it’s priceless to us…”
Artwork Tells a Story of the Napiers That Surprises Even Them
The family home is a testimony to how much Ben and Erin Napier’s lives now revolve around their daughters.
But that wasn’t always the plan.
When Ben & Erin Napier were the guests on Christian podcaster Annie F. Down’s podcast this summer, they revealed that having children wasn’t something they were always locked into.
During the hour-long conversation, Ben told Annie, “We both have shifted our focus to the girls completely. Which is something that is crazy because neither one of us were like…we weren’t looking to have kids. Like it was not a.. not that we didn’t want kids.” “I wanted to, but I was scared,” Erin chimed in. Ben continued, “I was of the mindset, you know, I grew up with three brothers. I have lots of nieces and nephews. If you want to [looking at Erin] great, if you don’t, we’ll be good.”
Now, of course, it’s a different story. “I cannot imagine a second that they don’t exist,” Ben admitted.
“In this season of life, having young children is all-consuming,” added Erin.
