“Renovation Aloha” stars Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama are well prepared for Hurricane Lowell after the previous hurricane last month left them without power. With Hawaii once again dealing with a major storm, concerned HGTV fans are sending prayers their way.
Tristyn & Kamohai Kalama Prepare for Hurricane Lowell
On September 7, Tristyn took to her Instagram Stories to give an update about the situation.
“The hurricane is trending away from the islands, but the outer bands are still probably going to bring us some weather,” she explained. “It’s windy … it was raining a lot yesterday. It’s not raining a ton today, but we are just prepping — because if anything’s going to happen, I think we’re going to lose electricity again.”
She noted, “I’m really praying for Kauai and Ni’ihau. We have water, we have dog food, we have canned food. We have our generator.”
“We’d just rather be safe than sorry,” the HGTV star shared. “And I’m doing laundry and cleaning my house right now” to allow “weathering the storm in a clean space.”
Tristyn also shared several reports on her Stories, with one noting, “Hurricane warning, conditions expected within 36 hours. Prepare now.”
Kamohai also took to Instagram to share a look at some of the ways they were prepping for the storm. He gave an update during his morning run ahead of getting everything in order.
“Today’s an interesting day because we have a hurricane that’s on its way up towards the island chain,” Kamohai said. “Hopefully it’s going to stay away from directly hitting any of the islands, but the outer bands are getting really close to especially Kauai, but also us. So today I’m getting prepared.”
Part of the prep included buying gasoline and propane for a generator. “Because after the last storm, our electricity went out for almost 24 hours and we had no way to power our house,” the HGTV star explained.

Fans flooded the comments section to share their prayers for the Kalamas and Hawaii.
“Keeping you all and all the other Hawaiian islands in my prayers,” one fan wrote. “I lived on Maui for three years from 1990 to February 1993 … one of the best best places I’ve ever ever lived.🙏🏻🙏🏻.”
