Dan Stevens quickly became a horror and sci-fi staple after roles in “The Guest,” “Apostle” and “The Rental.” He has been everywhere in the last few years, also taking roles in “Abigail,” “The Ritual” and the forthcoming “Onslaught” and “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.” In his career, Stevens has appeared in countless TV shows, as well, including “Downton Abbey,” “Legion” and “Solar Opposites.”
In addition to upcoming roles in shows such as the second season of “Dexter: Resurrection” and “Legacy of Spies,” he is also taking on the lead role as an iconic sci-fi character in Prime Video’s forthcoming “Robocop” TV series.
Dan Stevens is Robocop
Genre veteran Dan Steven takes on the role of RoboCop, the cyborg alter-ego of police officer Alex Murphy who is killed in the line of duty and later resurrected. Deadline initially broke the news on August 25, 2026.
The eight-episode show was greenlit in July 2026. James Wan will executive produce. At the time of the announcement, Wan, known for his landmark film series such as “Saw” and “The Conjuring,” said that he has long been a fan of RoboCop, the 1987 film written by Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner (both writers on the series) and directed by Paul Verhoeven.
“What Paul Verhoeven created in 1987 was decades ahead of its time, and its questions about technology, identity, and who corporations really serve have only grown more urgent,” Wan continued. “With Peter’s distinctive vision and bold approach to storytelling, and alongside Ed and our partners at Amazon MGM Studios, we’re working to honor what made the original iconic and highlight its relevancy in this modern, tech-driven world, while building something unmistakably new for a global audience.”
The series, written by showrunner Peter Ocko, is a partnership between Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse’s Atomic Monster.
Dan Stevens Talks ‘Dexter’ Return & Love of Horror
For the second season of “Dexter: Resurrection,” Dan Stevens has been cast as Owen Stark, otherwise known as The Five Borough Killer. “It’s a great fun show to step into. It’s such a well-oiled machine, and it’s a real privilege to step onto a set like that,” he told Variety in May 2026, “with a crew who’ve been doing it for so many years, a lot of the actors have been doing it so many years.”
Season 2 additions also include Brian Cox (“Manhunter,” “The Rookie, “Braveheart”), Bokeem Woodbine (“Jason’s Lyric,” “Fargo”), Nona Parker Johnson (“Law & Order: Organized Crime”) and Desmond Harrington (“The Dark Knight Rises,” “Riding in Cars with Boys”). “I’m having great fun stalking the streets of all five boroughs,” Stevens added.
The acclaimed actor also starred in the third season of AMC’s anthology TV series, “The Terror: Devil in Silver,” as Pepper, a mover wrongfully committed to a psychiatric hospital. Such genre fare gives Stevens room to play, be creative and “have a conversation about something that needs a different lens on it … we need to shed some light on it,” he told IndieWire. “We need to throw the conversation into a different paradigm in order to look at it.”
He appreciates a “push for originality,” he added. “We want to be constantly showing you things that you haven’t seen before. Genre really invites that.”
