Kourtney Kardashian Quietly Marks a Major Personal Milestone

Kourtney Kardashian is marking a major personal achievement. The Poosh founder revealed she has been sober for three years, sharing the milestone casually while attending the launch of sister Khloe Kardashian’s newest Khloud popcorn flavor.

In a video posted to her Instagram Stories on Jan. 16, Kardashian, 46, was presented with truffle white cheddar popcorn and a gin mocktail. She added text over the clip explaining that Khloe had made sure the event staff knew she had not consumed alcohol in three years, calling it a “Fancy Friday,” according to E! News. The moment ended with Kardashian raising her glass and saying, “Cheers,” a subtle but meaningful acknowledgment of the milestone.

The reveal stood out for how understated it was. Rather than making a formal announcement, Kardashian folded the update into a normal night out, signaling that sobriety is now simply part of her everyday life. While she has not spoken extensively about her decision to stop drinking, the brief post offered fans a rare window into a deeply personal choice that aligns with her wellness-forward lifestyle.

Kardashian shares Mason, 16, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 11, with ex Scott Disick, and is also mom to son Rocky, 2, with husband Travis Barker. Over the years, she has leaned increasingly into clean living, holistic health and intentional routines, making sobriety a natural extension of the path she has publicly embraced.

Sobriety and Family Conversations

While Kardashian has kept her own sobriety journey mostly private, conversations about alcohol have surfaced within her extended family. Disick has previously spoken about his struggles with alcohol and how he addresses them with his children.

In a January 2025 episode of Khloe’s podcast “Khloe in Wonder Land,” Disick explained that he is open with Mason about how drinking negatively affected his life. He said he reassured his son that he would never be treated differently because of past mistakes, while also being clear that he would step in if he ever saw a serious issue develop, per E! News.

Disick also shared that he hopes Mason can look to family members like Kim, Kendall and Kylie Jenner as examples of balance and different approaches to alcohol, emphasizing that each person’s relationship with drinking is personal.

Kardashian’s low-key revelation adds context to those broader family conversations, showing how sobriety has quietly become part of the family dynamic rather than a headline-driven storyline.

A Shared Commitment With Travis Barker

Kardashian’s milestone also intersects with her husband’s long-standing commitment to sobriety. Barker has been sober for more than 17 years, abstaining from alcohol, marijuana and hard drugs since surviving a life-threatening plane crash in 2008.

According to Page Six, Barker previously shared that the crash left him with burns over much of his body and resulted in years of physical recovery, PTSD and survivor’s guilt after the death of his close friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein. He later said doctors warned he might never play drums or run again, a prognosis that pushed him to get clean and overhaul his lifestyle.

Barker has described sobriety as difficult but transformative, replacing substances with running and boxing as outlets. Together, he and Kardashian have built a relationship rooted in health, intention and personal growth.

By sharing her three-year milestone without fanfare, Kardashian made it clear that sobriety is no longer a moment, but a mindset. As she toasted her mocktail and smiled for the camera, the message was simple and confident: “Cheers.”
