Although Travis Barker has been a celebrity for quite some time thanks to his music career, he reached another level of fame when he got together with — as well as got married to and had a child with — reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian.
This means that he’s surely had to adjust to sharing parts of his personal life with the public — including some private details that he has chosen to open up about for very good reasons. For example, the fact that he and Kardashian endured a pregnancy loss.
Travis Hopes Being Open About Pregnancy Loss Will Help Others
Barker addressed the emotional experience while sitting down for an interview with The New York Times’ Popcast, which was released on Thursday, August 6.
Among other topics that ranged from Barker’s music career to his appearances on reality TV, as well as the plane crash that he survived and his relationships with his wife and children, one of the podcast’s hosts, Joe Coscarelli, brought up the fact that Barker and Kardashian’s fertility journey was documented on the family’s show.
Beyond that, Coscarelli noted that the couple chose to reveal that they had suffered a miscarriage in his new Hulu documentary “Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear,” which led the host to ask, “How did you guys decide that this was the right forum to share that part of your journey together?”
“When there’s things that can benefit people or help people relate to something, I think that’s always a green light, especially — [Kourtney’s] always trying to do something like that,” Barker said in response.
He also explained, “Our journey of miscarriages and then IVF and it’s failed, resulting in us having a baby naturally — I feel like that’s a story that so many people can relate [to].”

GettyAlong with the fact that Barker and Kardashian share their son Rocky, he’s also the father of daughters Atiana (27) and Alabama (20), as well as son Landon (22), who he shares with his ex Shanna Moakler. Kardashian is also mom to sons Mason (16) and Reign (11), as well as daughter Penelope (14), who she shares with ex Scott Disick.
Longtime friends Barker and Kardashian started dating in January 2021, and three months later, she was pregnant with their first baby together. However, six months after their romantic relationship began, they lost the baby, according to E! News.
Along with sharing the fact that they had suffered a miscarriage, Barker’s documentary revealed that they had been expecting a baby girl. The couple had even chosen a name for the little one, and were planning to call her Tulip.
Sadly, when Kardashian went in for her appointment when she was three months pregnant, the couple was told that the baby didn’t have a heartbeat.
In the documentary, Kardashian opened up about the heartbreaking experience, saying, “When we lost the baby, we were devastated. We cried for days.”
Although Barker and Kardashian lost little Tulip, we’re sure they loving parents will always keep her in their hearts.
