A single life-threatening moment can change everything, reshaping priorities and altering the way the world is seen. For Jeremy Renner, that moment came in 2023, when a devastating snowplow accident left him fighting for his life and facing a long road to recovery.

Renner, who has built a career spanning independent films and major blockbusters, is widely recognized for his roles in “The Hurt Locker” (2008) and “The Town” (2010), as well as for portraying Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including “The Avengers” (2012) and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

The beloved star, 55, spoke to Fox News and opened up about the physical and emotional impact of the experience, sharing how it transformed his outlook on life, his work, and what matters most.

Jeremy Renner Shares Deep Gratitude for First Responders After Near-Fatal Accident

The near-fatal experience left a lasting mark on Renner, deepening his appreciation for the first responders who reached him in time and ultimately helped save his life. In the aftermath of the accident, emergency crews worked through challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions to get to him, a moment that stayed with him long after his recovery began.

It also led him to partner with RapidSOS, a company that supports 911 operators and first responders with real-time information during emergencies.

Speaking about the partnership, Renner said the connection feels deeply personal and purposeful.

“Otherwise, I’m just going to talk about it with 911 operators and my friends in the fire department and ERs and that type of thing,” he said.

“But now it could be done in a really quiet, even a global way, really, because the biggest thing we all need in emergencies is information. And the lack of information is when the time starts ticking on us. RapidSOS became a wonderful platform for me to be able to talk about something I’m very passionate about.”

How Recovery Changed His Perspective on Life

Since the accident, Renner said his priorities have shifted in a meaningful way.

He now focuses on spending time with family, improving his health, and giving back wherever he can.

“Be with my family, get better every day, and do acts of service and give to others as much and as best as I can. And that’s how I choose to live my life moving forward since the accident,” he told Fox News.

Renner also shared that even before the accident, he had deep respect for first responders, but the experience brought a new level of appreciation.

Renner has taken a thoughtful approach to healing, exploring a range of therapies to support his body as it continues to rebuild.

He shared that he has been incorporating treatments such as red light therapy, hyperbaric chambers, and peptide therapies as he works through the long-term effects of his injuries.

“There are a lot of great things we’re progressing in it,” he said, noting that he remains open to different methods.

“Peptide therapies are really great for hormone replacement as we get older. You don’t have to be in an accident to do any of the things I’m doing. These are just life stuff as we age, but those are also very, very key to my recovery from tissue damage. 38 broken bones, all that type of stuff.”

Alongside the physical work, Renner said his mindset has played an equally important role in his recovery.

“And also, a positive mindset. These are things that I enjoy, and I have to enjoy them because I’ll be doing them as I breathe and as I move around through life,” he shared.

The actor officially returned to the big screen with “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” marking his first film since the snowplow accident.

Despite the severity of his injuries, it marked the first film he completed after the accident. Reflecting on the experience, he told Variety that returning to the work he loves felt especially meaningful.

As he continues to move forward, Renner appears grounded in gratitude, using what he has gone through to support others and shine a light on the people who step in during life’s most critical moments.
