Barry Manilow, 82, Reveals Which Cosmetic Surgery He Has Had in Honest Interview

Barry Manilow has had a phenomenal career, and at 82-years-old, he has done almost everything. He has won an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Tony, and despite a few recent health setbacks stemming from his lung cancer diagnosis, he has continued to perform well into his eighties, and he looks great doing it! But there has also been speculation about whether the musician has ever gone under the knife or undergoes regular cosmetic procedures to maintain his appearance.

Barry Manilow Discusses the ‘Work’ He Has Had Done

The work he has had done is something that Manilow was happy to discuss in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, published on Wednesday, May 27. “I look fantastic, but I’m a hundred years old, right? I don’t know how that happened, by the way — I don’t get Botox or anything,” he said.

He then addressed whether he had had “work done,” responding first with a simple “No!” He then added, “I must say: There was one time when we lived in L.A. that I did do a facelift. But after that, it’s just been a little here, a little there.”

He continued to clarify his comments, saying, “‘Work’ is like a facelift, and I only had one of those. The rest of it — I see something falling down, sure, I’ll do that. I’m as vain as anybody else. One of my old friends, his mother said, ‘I always knew he was talented, but when did he get so handsome?'”

Excerpts from the interview, along with an accompanying photoshoot, were shared on the Los Angeles Times’ Instagram account. Fans reacted to the post with an outpouring of love for Manilow. “We love you Barry! Thanks for loving us back all these years,” a fan wrote. “Take good care. You’re very special and many of us will be thinking and praying for you,” another person shared.

Other reactions include, “I love that man. He is a star person/performer,” “A hard working legendary gentleman. And a talented class act,” and “Thank You for All your wonderful music.”

Barry Manilow Discusses His Health

In the interview, Manilow also discussed his health and how he has kept busy despite his inability to tour. “Since the surgery, I can’t go on the road. Ninety minutes of screaming in tune, which is what I do for a living — I’m not up for that yet,” he said. “I will be, but it’s taking a long time to get my voice back. They warned me that I’d have to learn to breathe again. So these days, I get up, I go to my piano and I try to be creative. Before I know it, the afternoon’s over.”

The cancer diagnosis came as a shock to Manilow, but he has since undergone treatment. “You just don’t even think about [how fragile life is],” he told People in a March interview. “And suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I’m still here. I’m not all here; there’s part of me that isn’t here — they took out a part of me, and now I’ve got to figure out, ‘What do I do?'”
