It’s a celebration!
With Janet Jackson’s 60th birthday approaching on May 16, the Jackson family joined together to celebrate their beloved sister.
In an Instagram video shared by La Toya Jackson, 69, on May 7, Janet, La Toya and loved ones gathered together in a black-and-white-themed party for the iconic “Scream” hitmaker.
Janet played into the fun of her special day by wearing a sash reading “SIXTYLICIOUS,” paired with a T-shirt reading “ROCK AND ROLL.”
La Toya looked beautiful, keeping their brother Michael Jackson in mind by wearing a classic pair of gloves — a nod to the King of Pop, who first wore a single sequined white glove in 1983 during his performance at the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever television special held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California, Collectors Weekly reported. The glove quickly became a powerful fashion statement of Michael — a sentiment carried on by his family — and a reminder to his fans of his remarkable artistry.
Janet Jackson Celebrates 60th Birthday with Jackson Family
La Toya captioned her Instagram video, “Jan’s 60th! Love seeing family, friends and just relaxing! Jai #thejacksons #brandi #austinbrown #janetjackson.”
Just days before the Jacksons gathered to celebrate Janet’s 60th birthday, Jackson family matriarch, Katherine Jackson, turned 96 years old on May 4. Katherine’s eldest son, Jackie Jackson, who shares a birthday with his mom, turned 75.
The official Instagram for the Jacksons honored the Jackson matriarch and Jackie for their special day, honoring the pair as “two pillars” of the famed Jackson family.
Janet shared a tribute for both her mom and brother as well, taking to Instagram to share how fortunate she is to have her mom’s unwavering love and her brother as a fearless leader.
“The Queen of queens turns 96 today. A beautiful soul who has touched so many lives with quiet wisdom, enduring faith, and a love that never falters. May God’s gentle grace surround you today & always, bringing you peace, sweet moments of laughter, and the deep comfort of knowing how very cherished you are. Every year with you is a treasure, and our hearts hold you with the deepest gratitude and love,” Janet wrote.
“Jackie, I feel so truly fortunate to call you my brother. You are loved far more than words can say, and my prayer for you today is that your heart overflows with peace, love, and joy,” the “All For You” songstress continued.
Janet Jackson Preparing for Tour in Japan
As Janet approaches her 60th birthday, she’s preparing to travel to Japan to perform four arena concerts in Kobe, Yokohama, and Nagoya.
The “Someone To Call My Lover” singer will kick off her Japan shows on June 9 at the Kobe Arena in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan. After a short break, Janet will continue with shows on June 13 and 14 in Yokohama, Nishi-ku, Japan. The soulful popstar will conclude her Japan tour on June 17.
In March, Janet signed with the global artist development company, Believe Music Publishing, forging a long-term global publishing agreement.
In the official press release for the merger, shared on the Janet Jackson homepage, Believe’s VP of Publishing Peter McCamley expressed how ecstatic the agency is to help represent the 5X Grammy Award winner well into her career.
“Janet Jackson is one of the most influential and important songwriters in music, with a unique creative vision. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the Believe Music Publishing family, and we are very much looking forward to working with her in the future,” he wrote of Janet.
Happy (almost) Birthday, Janet!
