John Travolta is a Hollywood icon and beloved for his incredible talents as an actor and director, but during his latest public outing, he looked so different from how fans have come to know him. Travolta embraced a bold new look and made a style statement that left him almost unrecognizable.
John Travolta Rocks Bold Style During Latest Public Outing
The “Grease” actor hosted The Official Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute. The event took place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 30. Photos obtained by the Daily Mail show him wearing a black Ramones T-shirt, a leather jacket, black jeans, a red beret and John Lennon glasses. His beard also appears fuller than when he attended the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, in May.
The outfit, combined with his facial hair, has left Travolta looking almost unrecognizable! He’s had a style moment this year as he embraces berets, and in a May interview with People, he spoke about his fashion transformation. “I love it,” he said. “Once ‘Vogue’ and ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ voted me the best dressed at Cannes, I went, ‘Okay, we’ve arrived.’”
GettyTravolta explained that wearing a beret “was really just an homage to being a director.” He made his directorial debut with the 2026 film, “Propeller One-Way Night Coach.” It stars his beautiful daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, and is adapted from a book the actor penned for his son in 1997.
He continued, “I wanted to differentiate all these years of watching me in photos. I can’t tell the difference with, what year was that? What movie was that? What press conference was that? And I thought, ‘I’m gonna tag it now.’ I’m gonna give it an identity to the time and the place and the form and event.”
Travolta also discussed his style change in a CNN interview in May. He revealed how his new look was inspired by Old Hollywood. “The old school directors wore berets and the glasses. And I thought, that’s what I’m doing,” he said.
The Official Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute
The Ramones event celebrated the band’s 1976 release of its debut self-titled album. The band announced on its official Instagram on July 8 that the event was sold out and that Travolta would be hosting. Also in attendance were Johnny Ramone’s widow, Linda Ramone, Travis Barker, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tim Armstrong, and CJ Ramone.
In the caption, the band shared their thoughts, writing, “THE OFFICIAL RAMONES 50TH ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE IS SOLD OUT. Thank you Ramones fans. We’ll see you on August 30th at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in LA for the special concert featuring Tim Armstrong, Billie Joe Armstrong, Travis Barker, and CJ Ramone as Cretin Family. Plus DJ set by Shepard Fairey and surprise guests, and double feature screening, presented by John Travolta in support of Dr. David Agus’ cancer research at Ellison Medical Institute.”
Fans reacted with supportive messages, with some begging for the event to be live-streamed or turned into a two-day celebration because tickets sold out quickly.
