KATSEYE has announced that member Manon Bannerman will be taking an indefinite hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing.
In a Friday, Feb. 20 statement shared with fans, the group said the decision came after “open and thoughtful conversations together.”
The message added that the band “fully support[s]” Manon’s choice and remains committed to both their fans and one another while she takes time away.
“KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us,” the statement continued, confirming that scheduled appearances will go on with the remaining members until Manon is ready to return.
The group ended by thanking their fanbase, EYEKONS, for their patience and understanding during this time.
Manon performs alongside fellow members Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae.
From Netflix Breakout to Global Spotlight
The six-member act first rose to prominence through the Netflix competition series “Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE,” which chronicled the formation of the group.
Since the show debuted in 2024, the members have quickly built a global fanbase and maintained a packed schedule of performances and appearances.
With that rapid rise, however, came intense public scrutiny.
In a November 2025 interview with the BBC, members revealed that online commentary “can get really heavy,” noting that they had even received thousands of threatening messages during their early months in the spotlight.
One of the members of the group noted how people will rank them on their looks.
“I feel like it’s very terrorising on the mind,” Manon added.
The comments highlighted the emotional toll that sudden fame can bring.
A Pause With Support Behind Her
While the group did not share details about Manon’s health, fans immediately responded with encouragement and well wishes online.
Many praised the group for prioritizing wellbeing and showing unity during a difficult moment.
The band’s statement made clear that the hiatus is meant to give Manon space to rest and recover, not to signal an ending.
For now, KATSEYE plans to continue performing as a five-member group while waiting for the day Manon is ready to return.
Until then, EYEKONS around the world are sending love—and reminding their favorite singer to take all the time she needs.
”I hope she takes as long as she needs,” one fan wrote.
Others noted that with their touring schedule and performances, it makes sense why she would need a break.
Additional fans praised Manon for focusing on her well being.
