Marlon Jackson and the Jackson 5
While part of the Jackson 5 in the ‘60s through the ‘80s, Marlon contributed his musical talents as a vocalist and percussionist.
Marlon is still an active member of the Jackson 5, which was later renamed The Jacksons. His brother Jackie Jackson is the only other original group member to remain as an active performer.
The official website for The Jacksons describes Marlon as a “complimentary dancer to Michael and lead vocalist during the Motown years, as well as heartthrob to many female fans during the 80’s.”
Marlon Jackson’s Motown Music Career
“On the heels of writing the iconic 80’s song, ‘Body’ with The Jacksons, he released one solo album in 1987 called ‘Baby Tonight,’” Marlon’s legacy biography added. “His single ‘Don’t Go’ climbed to second place in the US Top R&B charts.”
Apart from his legendary presence in music, Marlon is a philanthropist. He founded the Marlon Jackson Study Peace Foundation in an effort to promote peace and unity in communities across the world.
Marlon Jackson’s Philanthropy
In 1985, Marlon traveled to Ethiopia at the height of the success of the USA for Africa single “We Are the World,” which helped to raise over $60 million for famine relief, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Marlon’s legacy bio on The Jacksons website also sheds light on the documentary he is working on titled “The Man, The Music, The Mystery,” which the site says Marlon described as a timestamp of “a guy who was one of the greatest managers and managed one of the greatest bands in the world but never got the recognition. And his name happens to be Joseph Jackson.”
Marlon has three children with his wife, Carol Ann Parker, including Valencia, Brittny and Marlon, Jr.
